The Wines

100% Syrah, 60% from Gervans, 40% from Mercurol, 4 week vinification at 28-30°C, mix of cap punching and light pumping overs, aged oak casks 12-14 months

2011 ()

(casks) dark, shiny robe; Sleek, modern fruiting fronted by curvy black cherry – it is all pretty open and will vary as it evolves; there are notes of tea, inkspots of depth. The palate delivers a straightforward burst of cherry fruit – off it goes. The tannins are smooth and provide the wine with direct drive. It coasts into a finale of cherry, soaked red cherries, light nut-grain parts, ends clearly. The fruit persists. From 2014. 2018-19  Nov 2012

2010

full robe; creamy black berry fruit aroma with a pretty curve of appeal, a touch of smoke, game and bosky notes. Good black fruits on the palate – they tone down after half way, then leave a refined aftertaste. There is good sparkle in the fruit, and its youthful fruit is fresh, entertaining, drinkable. Slight note of licorice on the finish. Its tannins are fresh and mobile. A wine of solid heart, one that can evolve. From late 2012. 2019-20 Nov 2011

2009 ()

full robe. Big and wide, blackberry, oily aroma that is built to impress, also gives sleek licorice airs. Has a big black fruit coating on the palate, sets off widely. Tapers a bit towards the finish. The fleshy fruit is suave and criss crosses most of the palate. Easy to drink thanks to its sweet, ripe, flexible fruit. Correct length – rounded and gras richness there. Plenty of fat to please drinkers. From 2012. 14°. 2018-19 Nov 2010

2007 ()

full robe; supple, rounded bouquet that is curvaceous and easy-aired – shows vanilla, soaked black fruits at its heart. The palate delivers directly – there is fruit with oak all the way through. The oak intrudes a little, but is not a major offender, since there is juice apparent in the black fruits. Finishes on a charcoal note. From early 2010. 2014-15 Dec 2008
