2018 ()

(casks) dark red; there’s an oaked front to the nose, fat-ripe fruit within, loganberry, is a rather muscular start. The attack is concerted, delivers iron thrust with firm content and solid length, real persistence. It’s chunky, grounded, holds the clip of the northern sector of Rôtie, carries blood notes. From 2023, say. 2042-44 Nov 2019

2017 ()

(casks) dark red; iodine, fresh seaweed, soaked cherries feature in the lead on the nose, cherry stone and a hint of dried herbs. The palate wells up with rather sturdy content, mineral strength, has sunshine rays in its depth. This is engaging, true, holds good quality fruit and a nice amount of it. 12.5°. €33.60 export. From 2021. 2038-40 Nov 2018

2015 ()

(cask) full, dark red colour. The bouquet gives a thorough aroma of black berry fruit, soaked in style, mulling from simmered berries. There is a pine, varnish presence also. The palate is supple, aromatic, continues the theme of the soaked fruits, this time more red berry than black. It’s a gourmand, fleshy wine of immediate appeal. The finish is rounded, aromatic. It will do well in the restaurant trade. From mid-2017. 2029-32 Oct 2016

2014

(casks) full dark red robe. The nose gives a bonny sense of autumn abundance, airs of black berry fruit with a hint of damp leaves, tea leaves. The palate swings along well, is a free travelling wine, with good energy. The tannins are well in step, are juicy. This will please unconditionally. From mid-2017 since the fruit is so enjoyable in its youth. It is w.o.w. Côte-Rôtie! 2025-26  Oct 2015

2013 ()

(casks) dark robe. Lightly oaked, black cherry aroma at first; the nose has a taut aspect, a note of high tone here as well. The palate holds clipped black cherry fruit with oak and tannins that bite for now. It finishes drily, as if the cellar work was strong. Not sure. From 2017. 2027-30  Jan 2015

2012 ()

(casks) dark colour; nutty, primary air – a subdued black berry, a hint of thyme, the fruit liquid not jam-like, has minor “glisten”. This has a solid front of black fruit, closely packed tannin with it. This is a good ensemble with a rather muscular mainframe. The fruit is clear, lissom. Has northern zone schist potential, is very long, really keeps going. Its quality creeps up on the drinker, especially the length. From 2016. 2030-32  Nov 2013

2011

(casks) quite a dark red. Oily, sweet-aired nose, a classic Côte-Rôtie mix of violet and flowers, with licorice snap. The nose announces well. After a trace of mineral on the attack, the palate has high fruit, a perfumato style with airs of violet and the boudoir, a silky texture, possible note of Volatile Acidity. Its tannins are pliant, lie inside the wine. A light Côte-Rôtie, with pleasure and aroma foremost. The aftertaste is violet, dried flowers or pot-pourri. From mid-2013. 2026-28  Nov 2012

2010

(casks) quite a full robe; blackberry-tea aroma for now, scented violet, roasted airs, also quite strong oak, and northern zone schist in the mix. The palate is a circular ball of black stone fruit, tar, polished leather, husky tannins. There are toffee, modern effects on the finish. It is more gourmand than gourmet, but the spring-heeled nature of the vintage stops it being plush. Compared to the best, most precise 2010s, it is static. Has a floral-aromatic length, is long. Oak and tar figure on the aftertaste. Decant this. 2027-29 Nov 2011

2009

(casks) pretty full robe; the nose is complete, well-packed, not yet defining itself, but the black fruit is well-installed and persistent, friendly. Along with the notably ripe dark fruit feature meat stock, wisps of licorice. The palate flows in a juicy way, is appealing, typical of 2009. The fruit circulates freely, comes with late droplets of scent in the raspberry flavour. Good balance, cleanly made, Beau Vin. Good clarity, also – this has a future, is very, very sound. Herbal moments on the aftertaste. From 2013. 2030-32 Nov 2010

2008

mid-depth red. Rather grounded nose, comes with earthy, fundamental notions, cooked red berry within, and the potential to broaden over time. The palate has a welcome vigour, is correctly filled, the fruit cautiously widens in its later stages. The fruit is upright in texture, but this has more stuffing than his other 2008 Rôties. 2020-22  March 2011  Previously Dec 2009 **(*) (casks) full dark red; oak lies on top of a floral traverse, black fruit airs, licorice and black cherry. Upright oak that is rather green on the palate, which possesses a small gras that will help it to fuse. If drunk soon it will be demanding. From late 2012. To be bottled March 2010. 2019-20 Dec 2009

2007

(casks) dark robe; close-knit black fruit, treacle, chocolate prune aroma – it denotes scale, the cellar – it is enclosed to the point of being dense. The palate has a pushy black fruit start – a wine that asserts and wants to impress. The black fruit keeps going, adding oak as it goes. The length is sound. It ends on a mix of black fruit juice and oak, with a nutty aspect – olives, even, and some power. A cellar-forward wine that takes no prisoners. From 2011. 2025-27 Dec 2008

2006 ()

(casks) quite dark robe; pliant red jam aroma that is notably scented, with a little liqueur, very ripe raspberry and a little reduction that robs it of some clarity for now. Largely soft black fruits, blackcurrant and red berries on the palate. Extends well, though is a bit cellar pushed in its nature. Shows a little late richness on the finish. Its general harmony is sound, its tannins mainly well woven within. Red fruit, raspberry and oak mixed on the aftertaste. From mid-2010. 2024-26 Dec 2007

2005

(cask) dark robe with a matt hue; profound, quite searching aroma of smoky black berry – plenty to come. Rich, gourmand wine on the palate – generous and fleshy, with a rich texture. The tannins are ripe but prominent and suggest setting it aside until 2010. Live wine with a great vintage ripeness, is really wide and its length is good. It rasps a bit now – all the better for later. 2024-26 Nov 2006

2004 ()

dark robe; stewed fruit aroma, well filled. Bold black fruit start, there are burnt elements here. Acidity is a concern, since the ripeness is not certain, and there is also oak pushing it. Cross fingers and hope wine. Some richness within, but it's not a wine for now - maybe from 2008-09 on. 2017-19 April 2006

2003 ()

(cask sample) prune/alcohol mix - a dripping bouquet. Brewed southern wine, reduced also an oxidative tendency at this stage. Some raspberry aftertaste. Review later. 2006 on. 2018-20 Dec 2004

2002

dark, tarry, brewed bouquet. Good life, berried fruit, vigorous though a bit raw. Parts need till mid-2006 to pull together. Fresh finish. 2015-17

2001 ()

suave, floral, squeezed cassis aroma; plump, cooked fruits attack, straight blackberry flavour. Good fruit theme. 2019-22

2000

good wide, meaty nose, forest/spice/smoke; chunky start, cooked black fruit middle. Big, charged modern wine. Tannic/oak end. Dark, soaking flavour. Waste to drink before 2007. 2021-23
