2018 ()

yellow robe; the nose bears an aroma of “high”, rather musky white fruit, almost damp wool, has a honeyed aspect. The palate holds a ball of easy gras richness, soft white fruits, with a lip smacking nature, develops freshness on the aftertaste. It’s likeable, if a little low-key. 13°. 2023 Nov 2019

2017 ()

shiny, quite full yellow. Table wax with overt toasted oak on the nose, grilling, cooked citrus in the second tier. It has a forceful Marsanne presence. The palate runs with a cool delivery of white fruits, spring flowers, sinewed content, the oak in play on the close, with a honeyed burst. There are citrus prompts along the palate. It needs another 15 months to get together, should be decanted. 12.5° - so the special white St Jo has a lower degree than the regular cuvée. 2025-26 Dec 2018

2016 ()

sound yellow robe, has a lustre. The bouquet gives an understated richness and ripeness of fruit, peach in style, has a buttery, brioche baked bread element. The palate is quiet, has a tangy Marsanne-led flavour, with aniseed and infused tea such as tilleul (linden) in the frame. It’s not showing openly today, but carries sound weight for la table, poultry in sauce, spaghetti alla vongole (clams), cheese. There is late nuttiness, a little grip, on the finish. 2015

shiny yellow robe. The bouquet carries an air of gently simmered white fruits, peach and pear. The palate has a fresh start led by some carbonic gas, with a little carry from its mild white fruits. It ends cleanly, but is an arm’s length version of 2015 St Jo blanc. You can’t get tucked into it. 13.5°. 2020-21 Oct 2016

2014 ()

yellow robe. The bouquet is broad, has an apricot lead fruit aroma, secondary notes of peach, vanilla pod, cooked lemon. The palate holds a fat ball of gras richness, with oaking around it. The finish has grip, along with oak-vanilla. It is solid wine, for la table: white meats on the menu, cheese. Decanting will help it, since it is locked up for now. 13.5°. 2022-23  Oct 2015  Oct 2015

2013

shiny yellow; the nose combines a soft white stone fruit aroma with a hint of verbena, almost a wisp of petrol. The palate is fine, the flavour centred on apricot, peach, a light undertone of nut. It has acidity controlling its shape, keeping it together and fresh. It gains a small knot of local glow as it ends. Very tidy, not that deep. 13°. To 2018. Jan 2015

2012 ()

medium depth yellow; sweet, stewed fruits, jam, white plum aroma that mingles with vanilla, apricot, Bergamot, has an almost “high” fruit air. The palate rolls in a plump ball of peach and nectarine, some citrus with it, a lacing of lime. Holds agreeable fat, is never static, has the cut of 2012, that freedom. It could be left until mid-2014 to express more. It is reserved now, so decant it. The gras richness continues well, is a genuine food wine. Some fun and games to come, a well- grounded wine that will benefit from time. 13.5°. 2021-22  Nov 2013

2011 ()

yellow tinted robe, has a gleam. Peach-quince jam first air, and an extra, ripe note from banana – hence a bouquet of some sun, ripeness, drifts of pear. The palate connects to the nose via its rather rich debut, then pursues into an oaked, toffee, oak-toast style end. Drink with foods only, not solo - it starts more on texture and gras than precise fruit. There is an almond, nougat, licorice clack on the finish. A dour stage is now starting. Not an obvious wine. From late 2013, must be decanted. 2019-20  Nov 2012

2010 ()

pale yellow, green tints, shiny robe. The bouquet is friendly and wide, displays butter and white fruits, hazelnut and spice. The fruit resembles apricot jam, with a hint of honey. The palate continues on a supple theme, is very drinkable, has a little sweetness and a nice spot of fat at its heart. This is agreeable above all. Its length is fine, and there is nutty Marsanne on the aftertaste, a subdued tang. Suited to foods such as cheese, pastas – not big flavours. 13°. 2016-17 Nov 2011

2009

steady yellow. Reserved but fine aroma, comes with some loose citrus airs, a tang of apricot skin, white spice, butterscotch. The palate is oak-aided: it runs consecutively, with correct Marsanne bite and flavour that is led by light hazelnut, then glints of honey towards the finish. Sound balance. Not inspiring, or long on character, but is effective. Wait until mid-summer 2011 for better. Decant this. A “pleasant” wine. Banon or Picodon goat cheese recommended. 13°. 2015-16 Nov 2010 Previously July 2010 *** yellow robe; wide bouquet that reflects dried fruits such as peach, also a waft of honeysuckle. The palate bears fine fruit, is a good ensemble, is rich, and keeps going well. Best with food due tp its overt richness. The length is OK. To 2015 or so. 3,240 b this year. July 2010
