2018 ()

(casks, bottling March 2020) dark red. There’s a note of reduction on the nose, is backed by firm black fruit with paste like density, licorice, shows vintage sun rays. The palate generates a dark mass of thickly juiced black fruit. It’s quite linear near the finish. It’s surrounded by oak for now, leave until 2021, early 2022. 10,000 b. 2033-35 Dec 2019

2017

(casks) dark robe with a purple tint; the bouquet is smoky, self-contained on a tight air of cassis, black berry fruit, has an inner dab of sweet ripeness that is faithful to Beaumont-Monteux. The palate presents a tasty flow of black berry fruit with oak lining it, the fruit nice and upbeat. It finishes with saline qualities that clean the palate, invite a second glass. There is a little late glow that denotes summer heat. This will please young generation drinkers, is peppy, and has the substance for red meats, also refined cuisine. Licorice notes appear on the aftertaste. From 2020. 2028-30 Jan 2019

2016

(casks, bottling Feb 2018) dark red. The nose has a smoky nature, mystery in the glass, black berry fruits, licorice, black olives, typical of Beaumont Monteux. The palate offers juicy, neat black fruits with a tinge of dark tannins around them. It’s fresh and consistent along the palate, drink with enjoyable freedom. The fruit lasts well into a late oak and tannic crunch, powdery tannins there. It’s an en finesse Beaumont Monteux. 9,000 b. From 2019 or so. 2025-26 Nov 2017

2015

(casks, bottling Jan 2017) very dark, very shiny robe. The nose makes a bold statement, gushes with coursing black fruit and a big oaking, several layers of black fruits and hints of violet present. The palate deals ample, flowing black cherry and blueberry fruit which is constrained by live tannins, a darkness from them. The gras is polished, stylish. There is serious depth here, though the finish is a bit exerted. It has been in concrete vat since late July. From 2019. 2030-32 Oct 2016

2014 ()

(casks, bottling Dec 2014) dark red. The nose is handsome, rather on the Pinot side, has a serene depth of soaked black cherries. The palate links closely to the nose, holds streamlined fruit, ends with a perfumed light grain – it is rather delicate there. From late 2016. 2022-23  Oct 2015

2013 ()

full, dark robe. Has a roasted first air, a nose that offers appealing black berry fruit, a good mix of sweetness and florality. It starts on squeezy, fleshy fruit that carries well along the palate, ending with a salted, granular close. A good, competent Crozes wih some flair. 13°. 2020-21 Jan 2015

2012 ()

dark, even sombre, robe. There is a sweet hang of rather ripe fruit in the aroma above the nose – one that wants to impress obviously, and not by discretion. There is a forward surge of liquid black fruits, with closely attached tannins on the palate – they go as one in a very young setting. It lengthens on oak – there is a definite stamp of that. The scale is large, and it just about gets away with that. From late 2015. 13°. 6,000 b. 2023-24  Nov 2013

2010

(bottling in one month) dark red, some black tints. Blackberry liqueur - alight air of that, with the nose holding back, reserved. There is a supple southern St Jo zone shape to it, a pretty curve. Restrained blackberry-prune flavour on the palate, which gains depth and darkness as it goes, towards an inky spot late on. Gummy, full tannins are easily wrapped around it. The fruit persists well, is a beau vin with potential. Suited more to food than solo drinking, has subtle depth. 9,000 b. 2022-23 Feb 2012

2009

(casks) dark robe; scented, pliant aroma – cold tea airs. It is grounded, not a fancy modern style. There are beef stock notes in the flavour, with edging of grilled and tannic notes, especially on the finish. Has a heart, even if raw for now, finishes on raspberry notes, fine tannins. Structured wine – be patient, this is not obvious. From 2014. 2022-25 Nov 2010
