2012 ()

(vat/cask) dark red; black cherry jam, coulis first air, a pretty pure strike, along with the darkness of black olives: this is a good, ample, gracious bouquet. The palate holds easy, flexible, juiced black fruiting, and a light scatter of tar-dust tannins that are ripe. This is close to ready, is an accomplished Chusclan, has the typically supple fruiting of the Gard département. 2011 ()

(vat/cask) medium-plus depth of red. Grilled, brioche, grainy nose which has a solid Grenache plum fruit heart, wafts of herbs around it. There is a bonny dance of red fruit right away on the palate; it continues with life, is drinkable. There is attractive freshness in its discreet tannins, and it is crystalline on the finish. A good 2011. w.o.w. wine. From mid-2013 on. 2018-19  Sept 2012


nice dark red; the nose has a backdrop of mulberry, quite sturdy red berry fruit, licorice and enough matter for genuine depth, some oak traces also. This is modern, shapely, cellar-foremost wine. There is a Grenache plumpness at its heart, but it is a bit neutral. A pucker of smoked blackberry fruit appears on the finish, a small ball there. Acidity revives on a trembling finale. It isn’t completely ready, nor local. From 2014. 14.5°. 52% Syr 48% Gren this year. 2018-19  June 2013  Previously Sept 2012 **** ripe red robe, legs down the glass. The bouquet shows liqueur, mulled red berry fruit with a spice, smoke snap: it is profound, and sustains well. Spicy, engaging red fruit leads on the palate, and lengthens with clear freedom. Attractive acidity keeps the finish fresh; its tannins are well integrated, with a live current running through them. Good balance. From autumn 2013. 14.5°. 2021-22  Sept 2012

2009 ()

purple, quite a sturdy robe. Has a cassis, blackcurrant aroma with a rather cool-edged note, almost tinny. Has depth, is lean and direct. Becomes more friendly and supple with air, also deepens. The palate is juicy, a bit creamy, offers agreeable black fruit in a plump first half, before a quieter finale. There is glow, power on the aftertaste. Holds a really good core of black fruit that is tinged with licorice. The texture is smooth, has low-key bite from a spot of tannin. The palate beats the nose. Day 2: grain, crunchy, firm finish, can live. Good length. 15°. 2015-16 Aug 2011
