(bottling end Sept 2016) deep, dark robe. Has a reductive but beau nose of floral, peony flowers and pepper, smoky dark fruit. There is a grilling and a note of red meat. It is gracious and appealing. The palate is tight, clear, gives good access to the wild red fruits, wild blackberries, fine juice, with pepper on the close. This is a good all-rounder that is well juiced, has spontaneous exuberance. I like its natural qualities, and it continues very well. “It is paysan, naïve, not sophisticated Cornas,” Michel Tardieu. 13°. From 2019. 2033-35 July 2016

shiny dark red robe. Violet-spice-rose hip perfume combine on the nose, licorice and damson plum inside with pine and eucalyptus. Menthol and black fruits, crushed black berries lead the palate. This is direct and breezy, has a tight-knit shape. Its tannins are dark, with life. The bouquet is gaining well, the palate lags behind that for now. The close is very tarry. It is quite wild on the palate, in fact. 13°. This is from Les Saveaux, Chaillot, Saint-Pierre. From 2018. 2029-31 July 2016

(casks) dark, shiny robe. Tapenade, black olive airs and a marked black fruit fullness in a broad, layered nose. It has a lot to offer, and is trimmed with violet and licorice, is open already. The palate bears soaked, ample black fruits, stone fruits, the tannins absorbed into its fleshy content. It will always be round and ample. It flows with decent purpose, ending on a light salty note of freedom. Interesting, above all fleshy Cornas which offers plenty – pleasure and fullness. From late 2014. 2024-26  Nov 2012

2010 ()

(casks) dark robe with sheen in it, legs. Pine-varnish outer effect on the nose, with an intense and smoky cassis in behind. Supple, orderly debut to the palate, with the fruit squeezy, malleable, accompanied by a pine note; the tannins are similar – bendy. An inviting sweetness shows through, and is the last influence. A good example of the ripeness of the 2010 tannins here. Thorough, balanced, successful. The finale needs time to fuse into the wine's roundness. It has drive, keeps going. From spring 2013. 2024-27 Nov 2011

2004 ()

(cask) varied aromas on a soft bouquet - raspberry, mulberry, holds up well. Brewed fruit on a clean start. Mineral moments on mid/late palate - a visiting card from the vintage. Chocolate aftertaste, oak induced. Length correct. Still working out if it is mineral or fruited - mineral outcome more likely. From mid-2008. 2022-24 April 2006

2001 ()

good width, refined bouquet - cooked fruit, damp earth. Discreet, but has sound content, loganberry style. Good, fresh end. esp 2006 on. 2024-26

exotic bouquet - grapefruit, reminds me of Madiran. Good tannin, fine wine here. Chewy and stylish. Medium-term wine. Sound. 2016-18.

dark; well-ripened aroma, plum style fruit. Palate also shows ripe fruit, but not typical: is juicy and fat and plump. More like a Cote-Rotie. They say they have gone for finesse and softness. Unusual. 2014-17.
