attractive pale red robe. The bouquet has a serene quality, presents a curvy air of red fruits, drifts of sweet appeal. The palate is tasty, nicely succulent, with a soft finale. Good, understated content here for a very bonny glass. This is w.o.w. Tavel, instantly likeable. The fruits lasts with a tick-tock of detail, the length one of its ace cards. 14°. To 2018  May 2016

2 bottles tasted. 1st bottle: pink robe, light rim. Has a brioche, rather yeasty aroma that precedes a low-key red fruiting. It also shows some reduction, so decanting will be a help. The palate starts roundly, has a plump heart, a fat core, is a bit oxidative. Just a bit simple, but OK with spiced dishes. Bottle 2: reserved air of redcurrant fruit, also pork scratchings, a shade angular; the palate bears redcurrant, red cherry fruit with a tingle of freshness, is in better shape than the first bottle. It is slightly limited and curt on the palate. 14°. To mid-2016  Jun 2015

pretty pink colour that evokes summer days and events. Has a well-staged bouquet that is fine and sure, well-fruited, has subtle corners. There are light notes of licorice, flint and garrigue. The aroma travels widely across the glass, has a floral charm. The palate bears refined redcurrant fruit, small berries in optimal harmony with their tannin and acidity. This has beauty, is w.o.w. wine. It shows good lift on the finish, a shade of macerated red fruits in a small pocket of gras richness. Sound length. To 2015  May 2013

marked red tone in the robe – is a pale red, but brightly presented. Reductive, slightly yeasty surround to some bouncy red cherry aromas – is a bit flashy, but OK. Reduction from some Syrah, I presume – the colour another clue to the presence of plenty of Syrah. Red fruit on attack, with a chewy content as it runs through the palate. Full finish. A full-on, sit-down wine more than one for drinking on the hoof. Is a touch extracted, but its quite piercing fruit rocks on assertively. Red wine style of Tavel – so drink with grilled foods and barbecues.  June 2007
