(used 228-litre oak cask) dark robe. Has a broad, resinous, deep nose with acetate, cassis liqueur or coulis. This is chunky, with big tannins, very closely packed. Its shape is square, but there is gras a-plenty for that. It is sealed and thorough. It is peppery on the exit. There is a lot of wine here. 17 years. Dec 2015

rather dark red robe with a good, dense heart. Tobacco, smoky density on the nose, licorice and a dark, prune fruit core. The palate starts on tarry, licorice notes, then fruit moves into the picture; the fruit is subdued for now, but has a lurking cassis, smoky intensity. The finish is crisp. It is a wine of several episodes already, an interesting drink. It lengthens with a sure hand, and persists well. Concentrate when drinking this, please. Good wine. Allow it two further winters to become more digestible and ensemble. There are many nuances and a lot of subtlety in the juice on the aftertaste. “It can keep very well – for example the 2004 is now very good,” Jean-Michel Stéphan. Very good drinking between 2016 and 2018. 1,800 b. 2023-25  Nov 2013

full, dark plum robe; black cherry and a light chocolate scent mix on the nose, with inside an intense raspberry fruit, nutty siding to it. The palate has a direct, clear run of black fruit, accompanied by peppery tannins and definite late grip: it is not yet on the spot. The aftertaste is peppery and rather firm. Interesting wine; there is good reserve in this – more to be unfurled as it ages. From autumn 2010. 2017-18 March 2009
