red robe; the nose isn’t quite out, shows raspberry, bacon fat, smoke. The palate comes with a mineral thread, the northern St Jo sector, with crunch tannins, rocky late notes. The fruit persists correctly, but it could hold more obvious gras richness, is still making its way. 12.5°. 2025-26 Dec 2018

(casks) good dark robe; Has an oak infused aroma which bears broad black fruit as well as the oak, a dense chocolate note followed by the lighter touch of flowers. Juicy, well-mannered fruit is enclosed for now by tannin; the palate is less interesting than the nose for now, so leave until late 2013. The length is quite right, but I would prefer a little more soul, local leaning – it is good, otherwise. 2020-21 Nov 2011

(3 different enamel tanks) fairly dark red; snappy black fruit, pepper - enough depth in the nose to be OK. The old vines vat is the most robust, most interesting, tannin inset. The younger vines offer more taut fruit, average depth, clean finish. 2012-13 Nov 2009

½ bottle: quite a pale red; smoky nose – barbecue smoke, blackberry and leather in behind. The palate is rather rustic, a bad traditional. Has been open a while, so you can only taste what is offered. This ends firmly, has a dry end. Nov 2009

quite a dark, matt robe; brewed bouquet reflects coffee, prune and some high tone. Mature fruit on palate – it’s rather dry already, isn’t clear. Excess dryness in the wine – what has happened here – harvest date badly judged? Not fresh, can’t be assessed. Nov 2006

baked plum aroma, a little strawberry freshness on top. Tight, mineral start to palate, rather austere. Marzipan-plum finale. Not especially linked together, but has some local feel in a difficult year here in St-Jo. Rather uneven. To 2009. April 2006
