(cask) dark robe; there is a surprise delivery of floral-rose airs on a stylish blackberry coulis backdrop on the nose, notes of road tar. Floral on the Brune is rare. The palate presents well now, has Southern tendencies, ripe fruit, savoury, controlled sweetness, just out of the vat, primary urges. There’s ripe fruit on both nose and palate, and a level of salt late on, with blue fruit. It can develop, will tighten. The second half is thorough, with rocks in the texture, real clench. “It’s more elegant than usual, and is tight, taut,” René Rostaing. From 2024. 2053-55 Dec 2019

(cask) dark red; open, flourishing red berry-mulberry aroma, some pastille-coulis in its nature, hints of iron. The palate gives raspberry, is vigorously fruited, with tasty pockets en route. It finishes full of beans, extends very well and freshly, the fruit bouncy. It ends with a variety of prompts, dark berries, pumice stone, florality, pot pourri. It is complex beyond its early showing now. From 2023. 2046-48  GB £850 per 12 b i/bond J&B www.justerinis.com justbrooksorders@justerinis.com +44(0)207 484 6400  Nov 2018

(3 year ex DRC 228-litre oak cask, bottling July 2018) full red. This has a full-on nose, wham! It is broad and vibrant, a drum roll of raspberry liqueur, Morello cherries, a lingering intensity. This is fine and captivating on the palate, bears blueberry, blackberry, cassis fruits and tenacious tannins that you can eat. It runs with violets as company until the mid-point, then hands the baton on to the iron merchants: fascinating. This is complex, long. There is aromatic scent on the aftertaste. This is very good indeed, a star turn. “It is solid and fine, ample and velvet together,” René Rostaing. From 2024. 2042-44 Nov 2017

(vat, sugars finished, malo not yet, which adds brightness) the colour is deep; the nose is a combination of richness and elegance across the nose, which is deep, mysterious, has a compact air of berries. The palate gives a surge of dark, flinty, pebble dash berry fruit. Its depth is excellent, with freshness and thrust. This has a black raisin intensity and Syrah steel in its veins; there are walls of flavour and persistence. From 2019. 2036-38. “It is wild, very rustic and closed, very earth-bound, and a wine that will take time come round, like the Côte-Rôties of 30 years ago,” René Rostaing. 900 b. 31 Oct 2013
