thick, dark red robe. The bouquet has an aroma of soaked fruits, prune and black Morello cherries. It’s primary, not varied as yet, carries some power. The palate is fleshy, rolling, weighted with fat content, as if it came from the warm lands west of the village. There is a note of prune on the finish, with cocoa darkness. This is a gourmand, fat Gigondas, a style deliberately sought, I suspect. 14.5°. 75% Gren, 15% Syr, 10% Mourv. From 2020. 2037-38 Oct 2018


dark red robe. The nose is discreet, offers a little blackberry fruit with a hint of saltiness and tobacco. The palate is enjoyably free thanks to its stylish fruit and good fitting tannins, really turns well and is a great drink for the restaurant trade. There are plum fruits, red berry fruits within, and it’s a good example of modern, easy to drink Gigondas. The balance is sound, too. 14.5°. 6,500 b. 2025-27 Oct 2017

2014 No Rating

(vat/barrel) fair red robe. Cooked plum first aroma, a slightly rough and ready bouquet here; there is a baked manner in the fruit, lies rather flatly in the glass. The palate is also compressed, offers squeezed red fruit and tough tannins. It ends without lift. 2nd sample: red robe. Reduced air, plump red fruit aroma, limited scope. The palate bears red cherry fruit with insistent tannins lying on the outside. It drifts on the finish, like the first sample. Retaste in bottle. Dec 2015  


(barrel) medium purple-garnet hue. Has a slightly confected red berry fruit aroma. The palate is soft and soupy, and lacks definition. Tannic bite on the finish. Satisfactory, but lacks some charm and character. 14°. From mid-2016. 2022-23 JL Dec 2014

2012 ()

shiny dark red, sustained purple robe. This has a sleek and spiced bouquet, the fruit attractive and inviting, a spiced presence at its heart. The attack is tasty, sets off running well, picks up a fine point of tannin as it finishes. Accessible, modern Gigondas with streamlined features, fruit and tannin. There is a grainy content in the tannins which sits just outside for now, and makes it crunchy. The length is sound. Good with roast beef, a rib. It shows a Syrah and notably Mourvèdre influence in the smooth length – there is lots of Mourvèdre influence, above its nominal 10%. 14.5°. 2023-24  May 2015

2011 ()

there is some shine in its red robe. There is a low-key oiliness in the nose which has baked airs, holds plum Grenache fruit, gives a note of heat, black raisin. The attack is direct, a shade dilute; the wine skips a beat, has a slow build-up on the finish, where weight is added. Doesn’t have a lot of structure, nor depth of content, does a fair job. 14°. 2018-19  Dec 2012


(cask) undemanding red robe; active bouquet – out and at `em, it really travels. Has a good, interesting fusion of pebbly, mature fruit and tobacco, baked black fruits. This is a reassuringly deep start. The palate is marked by clean, wholesome fruit, and has a noted line of buzzy tannins through it, runs on well to the finish. Good, rich content with a ripe, honeyed texture in mid-palate, and a clear, direct finish. Promising wine. From mid-2012 – people will enjoy its early vigour. There is finesse in the later stages where it is wide and poised. 2022-23 Nov 2010
