dark red colour. The nose doesn’t give a lot – a note of menthol, crisp red berry fruits below. The palate has a cool tenor, holds intricate red-fruited content with live kick in its tannins, which are on the chalky side. It has some potential, even if it’s not as harmonious or fine as the leaders. There is some glow on the outside as it finishes. 14.5°. 65% Syr, 25% Gren, 10% Cins. 13,333 b. €26. 2016

(concrete vat, bottling Feb 2018) dark red. Smoky nose with pine needles, liquid black berry fruit in the frame. There’s a smattering of sweet herbs. The palate holds brothy, stewed black fruits with squeezy tannins leaving a gummy aftertaste. It’s an open and easy Châteauneuf, a straightforward wine. It lacks a little inspiration. 14.5°. 10,000 b. €12.50. From late 2018. 2028-30 Oct 2017
