purchased wine from Malleval, granite soils, aged 75% large barrel, 25% 1-2-3-4 year 225-litre oak casks 12 months
smoky, mature red fruits aroma that is pervaded with barbecue smoke. Ripe, raspberry fruit on the palate – has a supple nature, nice squeeze in it. Gains some grip late on, with tannins present. The fruit is gummy, not that clear. 12.5°. To 2012 Nov 2008
thorough red; the bouquet is reticent but well-filled, gives a murmur of raspberry, is tightly packed. The palate mixes menthol, licorice with black stone fruits and prune, also some late olive and herb. Was a strict wine in its youth, no doubt. Is now easing up a little, but its shape remains largely upright. The length is sound. 13°. To 2013. Nov 2008
sappy, oily wholesome nose, stewed black fruits. Pretty southern St Jo feel to it, juicy hedgerow fruits. At three years, is on the cusp between early vigour and more varied middle age. Decent length, great with lamb. 2008-09
black olives, quite ripe black fruit bouquet; cool texture, red/black berry fruit gains richness with air. Fair length, good vigour. 2005-06.
