2018 ()

regular red robe; the nose has a smoky, vegetal aspect, a little insert of red fruit, cendré or cigarette ash in it. The palate is on the go already, is a low-key, plain take on Gigondas. It carries a little vegetal freshness, red fruit, but lacks authority, needs more stuffing. 14.5°. 70% Gren, 30% Syr. €19.8 at cellars. From 2021. 2029-30 Feb 2020

2017 ()

(barrel/casks) dark red robe; the nose leads on Grenache plum fruit with spicing, is still raw and not yet rounded. There’s density in it. The palate is weighty, robust, has a thorough plunge of smoky dark fruited content, with notions of blood. The tannins are on the wild side, are crunchy, and there is glow on the aftertaste. The vintage is on top here for now, time is on its side. 70% Gren, 30% Syr. From 2022. 2037-39 Oct 2018


(barrel/casks) the dark red robe has lustre. Spices, cloves feature in the vanguard of the nose, a layer of Grenache plum fruit below. There is small vegetal note. The palate bears a menthol expression inside its dark berry flavour, travels with some gusto, and completes its course well. The aftertaste criss-crosses with spicing. This is a genuine Gigondas which possesses a thick couch of firm tannin that sustains and nourishes it late on. Decanting advised. 14.5°. 17,000 b. 70% Gren, 30% Syr. €17.96. decent red robe. The nose is reserved but broad, has a plum fruit centre from its Grenache, a little sweet curve. The attack is tarry, with lines of oak smoke through its black cherry fruits. It finishes with some gusto, a flourish, going long on the up. The blend works well, with the Syrah adding dark depth to the second half. Allow until 2019 for the oak to simmer down a little. 14.5°. 25,000 b. 70% Gren, 30% Syr. €18 at the cellars. 2032-34  May 2017


(tank, bottling March 2016) red robe. The nose is chiselled, has cut, comes with a chalky, wired red berry fruit aroma, light strawberry. The palate is smoky, with its red fruit juice still reluctant, ekes its way out little. This has fair, concealed depth. The smoky lining is interesting, the tannins rocky and on the strike in manner. 14.5°. 70% Gren, 30% Syr. €17.90. From 2018: this is slow gain wine. 2024-26  Dec 2015  

2006 ()

evolving red robe, a little see-through at the top; subdued, low-key aroma with a solid depth about it – not yet clearly defined – it is closely packed and handsome, with the innuendo of red plum jam and caramel for now. The palate has a tasty start – bright fruit, is smoothly textured, nice and wide. It runs on steadily, with plenty of content. Good, honest wine – I like its fullness and natural style. Its tannins are well coated, and there is a good road ahead. 14.5°. 2024-26 Nov 2008

2004 No Rating

fair red robe, matt in tone. The nose is indistinct, the fruit a bit unclear, has toffee and spice airs. This is limited on the palate: the fruit lacks freshness and lift, also width and depth. Fails to be thorough. The finale is burnt. Non, merci. Dec 2006
