The Wines

60-85% Roussanne, 10-21% Clairette, 0-30% Marsanne, 0-5% Grenache blanc, 0-9 % Viognier (1990-92 vines) from marly sand soils, stony clay-limestone soils, cool decanted at 15-16°C, steel vat fermented 3 weeks, raised steel vat 5 months (before mid-2010s raised 0-30% 1-year oak casks, rest steel vat 5-6 months), malo completed, filtered, “drink with grilled fish, goat cheese”, 6-7,200 b


full yellow robe. A grilled pork air comes forward on a pretty full nose; the fruit element is secondary, suggests wild strawberries and lime. The palate is rather severe. There is some gras within, and the texture softens towards the finish. It’s table wine, not aperitif drinking. So, leave this until early 2017. 14°. 85% Rouss, 10% Clair, 5% Mars. 6,000 b. €5.25. confirmed yellow robe; the nose has a ripe fruit approach, suggesting a wine for la table. It has a licorice, rather liquoreux nature, a gentle progression, oily airs and camomile. The palate is gutsy; this is a grounded southern white, with a tangy marmalade flavour, white raisin notes. Spiced tea shows on the aftertaste. It is a bit retro in style, while fresher elements could be brought along. Be ready for a full-on wine more than a discreet one. 2011 ()

pale yellow; rather funky first aroma with “high” airs, ripe fruit. The palate has a simmering acidity, and is not comfortably set. It has a fresh coating, with a little gras within, but is disjointed as it stands now. Has just been bottled, will forgive a little. 13.5°. 2014-15 Feb 2012


pale yellow; lime-pear, honeyed, oily aroma of ripeness and fat. The palate starts on a supple note, is friendly in texture and drinks on some attractive gras. This is a cosy aperitif rather than a bracing one, also good for salads, cold meats – spot on with them. Harmonious wine with nice length. Bottled Feb 2011. 13.5°. To 2014. €9.80 at the cellars. yellow traces in robe; the nose is rich and buttery from its Roussanne, shows some floral grace as well. Peach flavour, round texture on the palate, a poised wine that drinks well solo. Can go with food also, since the end is quite chewy and satisfying, also salty. A good, sound wine. 14.5°. 2012-13. Nov 2008
