(vat) dark colour. Plum fruits, savoury sweetness lead the nose, an air of mulled blackberries, also blueberries; it has inkspots of darkness. The palate is rich, thorough, bears good depth of sustained content with some freedom along the second half, the finish extended. Good with roast beef, game dishes. There are black olives, fluid gras notes on the close. The length is very good. 14.5°. 3,000 b. 100% Grenache. €20. From 2022. 2040-42 Oct 2018

2016

(vat) full red robe. Has a soaked cherry-raspberry aroma with a note of brioche, crushed thyme, hints of mineral cut. The palate is well-fruited, with smooth tannins in support, and it travels easily along, presenting an attractive, savoury fullness. This works well on finesse over power, and the length is sure. 14.5°. 100% Grenache. €19.50. From 2021. 2039-42 Oct 2017

dark red colour. The nose is broad and beefy, has a southern rumble of depth and a brooding atmosphere, as if there is a ground force within. The palate is immediately engaging, and follows the path set by the bouquet: it is deep, sustained, holds coated content with good inner energy in the tannins. Rosemary, hints of dried herbs line the second half of the palate; the aftertaste is spiced, and lingers well in an impressive finish. It’s a grounded Châteauneuf. Decant it when young. Bottled already in June 2016. 14.5°. 3,000 b. 100% Grenache. From 2019. 2036-39  Sept 2016
