2016

(casks, bottling July 2018) sombre, full red robe. The nose is bold, delivers blackberry and raspberry fruit with an open welcome, a note of garrigue dried trails. The palate is good and chunky, grounded, its force from the roots up. It is a broad and full wine, with the Mourvèdre pedalling along on the late stages, which have momentum. There is quite thick juice on the finish, some swish from that. 15°. 3,000 b. 80% Gren, 20% Mourv. From 2021. 3,000 b. 2034-37 Oct 2017

2015

(new large barrel/some vat) shiny dark red. The nose gives a bright thrust of dark red berry fruit, with some smoky notes, and a little bosky, pine woods cut. The palate picks up closely from the nose via crisp red fruits with a menthol-style stretch before the finish. This works on freshness and energy, has good vintage clarity, and isn’t overdone. The aftertaste brings in mocha, and grainy tannins. 15°. 3,000 b. 80% Grenache, 20% Mourvèdre. 2007 ()

(casks) full, dark red; the nose has a violet top air with a shimmer of licorice and black soil. There is a good roll of black fruit on the palate, with a continuing, lightly muscled presence – this reaches out well, and shows some tannic variety at the end. The fruit is pretty, with some liberty of movement – as opposed to the very dense school of wines. There is a tinkle of Grenache plum fruit on the finish, followed by herbal notes. From late 2010. 2024-26 Nov 2008
