50% Grenache (oldest 1936), 30% Syrah, 20% Mourvèdre from stony, sand-limestone soils, destemmed, 3 week vinification with Grenache & Mourvèdre fermented together at 25°C, pumping overs, part vat emptying/refilling, aged 30% new, 70% 1-2 year 225-litre oak casks 12 months, unfined, filtered, 4-6,000 b

(casks, bottling Jan 2019) dark red colour; the nose is brewed up, large, on a wide expanse of charged black berry fruits, breathing power. The palate is into oily textures, a full display of grounded content, drive in the late stages, tannins very much on the go. It’s a big and lusty, kick ass affair. The finish is full of running. Refinement will be a while coming. Decanting needed. 14.5°. 6,000 b. 50% Gren, 30% Syr, 20% Mourv. €30.20. From 2022. 2038-40 Oct 2018

(casks) very dark robe. The bouquet is a chunky affair, with firm sides to its black fruit, with smoky tendencies from oak and notes of roast meat. It’s tightly packed, with some southern tones such as dried black raisins. The palate is dense, thorough, moves with proper depth of black fruits, their ripeness giving it thick juice at its centre. There is a note of varnish from the oak, but there’s plenty of matter to take care of that. It’s a concentrated wine, with some cellar effort apparent. From 2020. 2035-38 Oct 2017

2015 ()

plum red colour. Soaked red cherries (griottes), plums show on the nose, which has local notes, is spiced, has bright Grenache just in front. The palate shows oak within, caramel, which is a distraction. Its texture is suave, has an oiliness, but needs more vineyard and less cellar influence. The shape is round, is an orb. 14°. 2029-31 Oct 2017 Previously Sept 2016 ***(*) dark, full red robe. There is an intensity about the nose, which mixes concentrated black berry fruit, black raisin, some dark chocolate. It’s broad, and suggest a muscular wine. The palate is chunky but keeps moving pretty well, carries oaking. I would leave it until 2020 in order to fuse that oak, which sits around some plum, raspberry fruit. The aftertaste is exerted, rather cellar-inspired. 14°. 2029-31 Sept 2016
