45-60% Grenache (early 1980s, Gobelet training), 30-45% Syrah (early 1980s, late 2000s), 10% Marselan (mix of Grenache & Cabernet S) (late 2000s) from sandy, clay soils at Roquemaure (Gard, 30), Syrah, Marselan machine harvested, destemmed, 3 week vinification of varieties together, which means Grenache, Syrah 14°, Marselan 15.5° in a hot vintage, cultured yeasts, daily pumping overs, part vat emptying/refilling, raised 50% concrete vat, 50% 30 hl tronconic oak vat 12 months, assembled, then 2 months, unfined, filtered, 7-10,000 b

2018 ()

(vat, bottling Dec 2019) jolie red robe; has a peppy, red cherry, upbeat nose that is softly herbal. The palate gives good immediate red juice, zig zag it goes, carries nice freedom, good energy. It tones down towards the finish, has pockets of dark berry, raspberry-mulberry, is a zappy do. It’s good and frank, for grills, la table. 14.5°. 60% Gren, 30% Syr, 10% Marselan. €8. 2025-26 Oct 2019

2017 ()

bright dark red; the nose is sun-filled, so has a rather thick aroma of red berry fruit, raspberry jam, a touch of sweet herbs. The palate attacks widely, has a sturdy level of gras, plenty of carry into the close. The texture is thick, and this is solid wine for red meats, has local garrigue influences, and holds well in the mid-palate. It ends nice and thoroughly. 15°. 2025-26 Oct 2019

2016 ()

(vat) deep red, some purple in the robe. This has a nicely lively nose, black cherries mixed with a little dustiness, graininess. It’s a bouncy start, shows a trace of reduction. The palate rocks along with fulsome black fruit and a little tannic grain thrust after the mid point. This is up-tempo wine for grills, barbecues. It isn’t quite all as one between content and tannin, so leave until early 2018 – the spring. There is depth beyond the upbeat fruit, and this is local, authentic from warm lands wine. 14°. (vat, bottling Nov 2015) attractive red robe. This has a nicely supple layer pf red cherry on the nose, is rounded, a little reduction present. The palate is more peppery, backed by fresh red fruit, redcurrant. It takes on some more punchy content on the finish, the tannins dark for now. It is going the right way. 14°. 9,000 b.
