fine yellow colour; the bouquet mixes white fruits, peach with pear, has a salty tang, a note of crème patisserie as its foundation. This is a good, traditional Châteaunuef blanc, based on the natural richness of the Grenache and the Clairette – there is good heart, an involving ball of white fruit gras at its centre, with a pinpoint note to the late fruit. The finish gives a discreet note of fennel, is well rounded and textured. It’s a charming, stylishly filled wine, good with smoked eel, salmon dishes, also mushroom, more truffly flavours. 14°. 3,200 b. 2029-31 Nov 2020

yellow robe; has a live, upbeat nose, nice and free, peach leading it, with aniseed, ripe pear – it’s varied, appealing. The palate has a smoky white fruits presence with cooked apple, pear prominent, a touch of spearmint, with good clarity that runs into a squeezy finale. This is elegant, on fine freshness that comes forward discreetly. The balance is good, the aftertaste very precise. 14°. Bottled Feb 2019. 2030-32 Oct 2019

yellow with a note of pear skin; green apples, glazed brown sugar are unlikely companions on the nose. There is a fennel, baked brioche bread presence. It has vintage weight. The palate is sturdy, compact, holds buttoned up content, comes in a traditional style, is de la terre. It spreads widely, and will do well with sauced dishes, daurade, sea bass. It’s a genuine Châteauneuf blanc. Decanting advised. I reckon it could be most interesting around 2025, a real bag of variety and stimulus then. 1,280 b. Harvested 26 Aug 2017. €25. 2030-32 Oct 2018

yellow robe, with a wee hint of gold, pineapple. Has a wide aroma – hazelnut, dried fruits – that holds together well. There is some high tone, also banana-lime here. There is a rich, slightly sweet debut to the palate that holds white stone fruit, plum at its core. It's nice and gutsy, a wine of honest, well-filled local appeal. Suited to robust foods, fish stews, guinea fowl in sauce. The texture is ample and sustained. 14°. 2016 Aug 2008
