2011

shiny, quite full red. Resin with pine in the first air, mulberry fruit liqueur, mulled fruit behind; a very strong resin aroma. Has a basil-pine debut – that is the main impression. Prune and black stone fruits appear after half way, a taste of sweet blackberry in the mid-palate. It dries towards the finish, where there are demanding tannins. Decant this. From mid-2013. High at 14.5°+. €12.  2017-18  Dec 2012

(vat) fair red. Modest red fruit aroma, lacks freshness. Traditional style palate – there are some dark incisions in the black cherry fruit, but it lacks a confident surround, is taut towards the finish. To 2013-14 Nov 2009

quite a full red; full, bosky, gummy fruit bouquet, with live traces of pepper. The palate is settled, by contrast – it drinks OK now, the fruit persists well in an open, forward way. The length is OK, finishing on a peppery note. It is a little flat, lacks lift. OK to end 2009 or mid-2010. June 2008 Previously Jan 2008 NR (vat) full, quite dark red; has a fundamental, leathery-violet nose but the palate is flat and oxidative. Both sample bottles the same, so cannot seek another angle on this. Not yet bottled, so maybe a reason for this particular hiccough. Jan 2008
