80-85% Grenache (1950s), 15-20% Syrah, Mourvèdre, Cinsault from sandy soils, destemmed, 4 week vinification, cap punching, concrete vat raised 15 months, unfiltered


the mild red robe shows the presence of plenty of Grenache. The bouquet is broad, has a curvy aroma that resembles raspberry jam, has a sweet infill. The palate gives red fruits with a texture that is succulent, sweet and lozenge-like. There is inner power that reveals itself most fully on the glowing aftertaste. This is on the limit as regards its ease of drinking, is towards sipping territory, and yet it’s a Côtes du Rhône! The aftertaste shows a lead pencil cut that is welcome. It’s a microcosm of our times: the grower wants the crop, including the tannins, to be ripe, but the sugars advance all the while. Hence it isn’t truly balanced. 15°. 2022-23 Nov 2017
