LVT 2019 r 2019 wh Sleek, aromatic, modern wines. There has been a slight move towards more finesse and less opulence since around 2010, a good thing, as witnessed by good 2014s; I note the 2017 and 2018 were both around 14°, indicating earlier harvesting than in the past - OK, providing the polyphenolic [tannins/pips] ripening is in place. There are now organic practices in the vineyard.
The Auguste Favier red remains the obviously coated style of wine. It was my preferred red of the three wines in 2019, a ****(*) that ran with good continuity along the palate, its 85% Grenache heart nicely offset by 15% Cinsault. It is is the same price as the Classique red.
The whites, based on old Clairette blanche and rose, are accomplished and stylish, the 2019 Vieilles Vignes Clairette, a rare 100% Clairette rose white, a ****(*) generous, rich wine of genuine heart; it is sold only in magnum, of which there are just 600, the price over €320 per magnum. There is also a serious, for la table, Côtes du Rhône Clos Beatus Ile red, over 80% Grenache, the 2019 a serious **** wine.
