2018 ()

dark red; the nose has a collected air of black fruit, prune in its ripeness, with black pepper breeze, grilling. The palate holds black fruited, wavy content, starts with intent, has a sturdy interior, with some assertion in the rather chalky tannins – they need time to tone down. It’s a vigorous Vacqueyras, a trifle downhome, but good with stews, lusty dishes. 14.5°. 9,330 b. 70% Gren, 15% Syr, 15% Cins. €12.50. From mid-2021, decant it. 2032-34 Feb 2020

2016 ()

full, dark red. Soft blackberry aroma with a gentle curve to it; it has a measured, calm presence, a little meat stock depth. The palate bursts out on blueberry fruits, black cherry with a menthol line that provides lift towards the finish. There is some style in the content, and the tannins contribute life to the wine. There are mixed red and black fruits on the aftertaste. It’s pretty authentic. 14.5°. 70% Gren, 15% Cins, 15% Syr. From mid-2019. 2029-31 Feb 2018
