2014 ()

(vat/casks, bottling Jan 2016) plum red robe. Raspberry-strawberry fruit feature in an open aroma, has a free delivery of the fruit, a loose, jam-like combination. The palate runs with clear, expressive Grenache-inspired red berry fruit, raspberry the core flavour. It is an honest, unpretentious Châteauneuf, with good, assertive drive on the finish. It gives the mineral, rocky cut of the vintage on the aftertaste. 14.5°. 90% Gren, 5% Syr, 5% Mourv. 20,000 b. €16.90. From 2018. 2028-29  Oct 2015

2005

(pre-bottle) largely dark red colour; herbal, pebbly stones bouquet with some hidden character, there is more to come. Sinewed palate, this is a live wine with subdued fruit today. Maybe from a draining, sandy area?? Shows some alcohol at the end, but its red fruit stands up OK. Rather strict rather than fleshy style. Not surprised to learn when shown bottle that it’s from the heat of Courthézon. Esp 2009 on. 2019-22 Nov 2006
