The Wines

50-80% Grenache (late 1970s-late 1980s), 10-35% Syrah, 10-25% Mourvèdre from clay-limestone, siliceous soils on Plan de Dieu, Coudoulet and other sites, destemmed, 8-10 day vinification, daily part vat emptying/refillings, concrete vat raised 10-12 months, unfined, filtered, 25-26,000 b

(vat) clear red robe. The nose gives a true garrigue, mixed herbs impression, backed by fresh 2014 style red Grenache fruit. The palate is compact, drawn in on itself, a red cherry flavour coming with a line of implicit spirit, a bit baked by that. It is clear cut but a bit mechanical in style. 14°. 30,000 b. 80% Gren, 10% Syr, 10% Mourv. €5.95. From spring 2017. 2021-22  Oct 2015

2011 ()

shiny, quite dark red robe. Peppery, open, red-fruited nose that comes with a drift of herbs such as laurel and thyme across it. The palate gives juicy, rather flattering fruit – this has been made to drink early and easily. It is a wee bit dilute, perhaps due to excess crop. There is a slightly fragrant ending. Pleasant wine. 15°. 70% Gren, 15% Syr, 15% Mourv, 26,000 b this year. Oct 2012

2010 ()

bright, dark red; blackberry, black olive airs with a nice, sweet ripeness, toffee – a curvy aroma. The palate is open and engaging now, holds juicy, gum smacking raspberry, red berry fruit with Grenache at its heart; its ripe tannins provide extra depth. Shapely, wide and well-filled wine that drinks now. It would be good with spaghetti Bolognese, cooked sausages, meat balls from Scandinavia. 15°. 60% G, 30% S, 10% M this year. €5.25 is good value. Bottled Nov 2011. To 2016-17. Feb 2012

2009 ()

quite a dark, mottled robe; sweet notes, the air reflect prune, dark honey, is ripe and rather persistent, blackberry jam, stewed notes, rubber. Black cherry jam flavour – the palate starts generously enough, then tightens, takes on dark tannins. Oak and a man made feel to the finish. from late 2011. 15°. 70% G, 15% S, 15% M this year. 2015. April 2011

quite deep red; slightly grilled air to the bouquet, red berry and alcohol float in it, has some local stamp. The palate starts mildly, gives low profile fruit, gets some kick from half way, and becomes rather stretched – the fruit isn`t very calm. Punchy, pretty genuine wine that needs to draw itself together. To 2013. June 2008
