The Wines

75% Grenache, 15% Syrah, 10% Mourvèdre from mixed soils, sand, galet stones, limestone, mostly destemmed, 3 week concrete vat vinification, pumping overs, part vat emptying/refilling, aged 85-90% vat, 10-15% 1-3 year 225-litre oak casks raised 8-10 months, new oak proportion 3%, filtered, 10-20,000 b

(vat/casks) deep red robe. Plum and crushed mulberry fruits combine on the nose, giving a coulis-like exposure. The palate bears rather thick content with a soft set of tannins, and a sweet theme almost throughout. It is a sunshine wine based on red fruit flavours, could be a little more lifted. The finish brings in some dusty trails, pebbly moments. 15°. 10,000 b. From spring 2019. 2028-30 Oct 2017

quite a full red robe. The nose combines blackberry and mulberry, has a ripe curve, a sweet touch around it. It’s not varied as yet. The palate gives cosy content, easy-textured red fruits with a neatness overall. It will be a rounded glass of Châteauneuf in time; there are salty, rocky late dabs, the aftertaste a shade dry. 14°. From 2019. 2026-28 Sept 2016

(casks) dark robe. Has a rich, ripe nose with a distinct blackcurrant-cassis fragrance. It is modern and worked in style. Oak shows, but it is reasonably well integrated. It is slightly porty on the palate but holds juicy fruit and soft tannins. It needs to settle, but isn’t a wine for the long haul. 14°. From 2016. 2023-24  JL Oct 2014

2012 ()

(casks, bottling July 2014) sound red robe; spice, treacle, coffee airs combine with soaked plums – a nose of some depth and regularity, has woodsy and slight resinous notes. The palate is juicy, spiced, rests more on secondary pine style leanings than the modern school of pristine fruit. Has the texture of the south, oiliness, black coffee moments, the fruit prune-like. The finish is unresolved, needs time, but is varied and full. 14.5°. 75% Gren, 15% Syr, 10% Mourv. 20,000 b. From spring 2015. 2023-24  Nov 2013

even red, Grenache influence robe. Creamy, sweet style aroma that is curvy, offers honey, while its ripeness veers towards sweet pastilles and dates, also herbs. The fruit is shapely on the palate, takes on a collected set of tannins. This is suavely textured, its length is good. There is a little crushed tone clarity on the finish, where it loses a bit of its gras. Balance pretty good. 14.5°. 2020-21 April 2011

black-red cherry colour; the black fruit aroma is enclosed – gives out modern, quite crunchy fruit, herbs as well. There is good dash in the palate fruit – it is cleanly presented and vintage faithful. It is easy to drink now – already - with sound roundness in the texture. Bouncy Grenache here – this can be drunk solo, standing up – it is a fun wine. To 2011. April 2008

pretty, quite full red robe; savoury, round aroma – the fruit is clean and has some grip. Openly fruited palate with a little sweetness. Primary, young fermented grape aftertaste. Stops a little short. Drink until 2010-11. April 2007
