The Wines

Syrah (av age 25 years) from pebbly stone soils, destemmed, crushed, 2-3 week steel vat vinification, pumping overs, steel vat raised 12 months, filtered

2018

(vat) sober dark red colour; the bouquet is singed, grilled, quite a Production. It has a top heavy feel, with dense fruit on its pile. The palate is likewise ample, charged with copious, fleshy content, and plenty of late abundance, tar present on the still raw finale. It’s meaty, forceful Crozes, is a bit of a jumble, needs time and, eventually, la table. 13°. From 2021. 2028-29 Nov 2019

2016

(vat) rather dark red colour. Nuts, grilling, oak start the nose, green olive aromas in the mix. The palate has a varnish angle from the oak, bears sleek black fruits, isn’t yet fully integrated, notably on the second half, where there is drift. For now, it lacks a centre of operations. There is a little perfume on the aftertaste. From mid-2018. 2022-23 Nov 2017

2015 ()

(steel vat) deep red robe. The bouquet is promising, if still mysterious. Mulberry fruit and a sense of herbes de Provence set the current trend, with some smoke—charcoal in the offing. The palate comes on a fine dark red berry fruit. The finish carries a little sweetness. It is rather fine, and still in the hands of the cellar. From mid-2017. 2021-22 Oct 2016
