(casks) very dark colour; the bouquet lines up a compact aroma of black cherry fruit, is well together, can emerge. The palate gives a steady wave of sweet-toned dark berry fruit with a little life, directness in the tannins, a hint of extraction. It’s an uncomplicated Châteauneuf that is easy to drink, and won’t require much time. The fruit is likeable, easy to access. 15°. €28. From mid-2021. 2029-31 Nov 2020

(casks) dark red robe; the nose has a thick, compact air of mulberry style fruit jam, is quiet, cautious for now. The palate suggests its fermentation took a while, still has sugary outcrops, mixes red and black berries. There’s an aromatic, floral note on the finish, which is low-key. 14°. €28. From 2021. 2037-39 Oct 2018

2016 ()

(casks) shiny dark red colour, legs. The bouquet has a low profile, shows cooked plum fruit with a sappy centre, a note of toffee from the oak, oregano and raspberry fruit. The palate holds easy gras richness, a flavour of concentrated raspberry fruit and tannins that have a little edge and baking to them. Its degree is on the limit vis-à-vis its content. It will fuse together, can be drunk from 2020. 14.5°. 2030-32 Oct 2017

2015 (NV on label) No Rating

(casks) medium red robe, not bright. The nose has a cooked plum first aroma, stewed strawberries, is raw and raisiny. This sample isn’t very fresh. The palate holds a red fruit content which is clipped by chalky tannins, and the finish rides out away from the fruit-content duo. I would prefer to judge post bottling. 14°. Sept 2016

2013 (NV on label)

(casks) medium depth red colour. The nose has an aroma of prune and confiture-jam fruit. The palate is soft, round and supple. This oozes fruit, but is a touch oxidative and port-like. Tannins come through on the finish, lending structure and definition. Probably for more immediate drinking, though. 85% 2013, 10% 2015, 5% 2012 in the final wine. 2013, From 2016. 2023-24 JL Oct 2014

2012 (NV on label)

(casks, bottling Sept 2014) dark red; there is a glimmer of sweet ripeness in its careful nose that has a sunny heart, shows ripe Grenache plum and red berry, is openly inviting, varied, interesting, has notes of salt and black raisin. The attack is round, centred on red cherry liqueur, with acidity that helps to freshen it and prompt it on its way. Has a clove, pepper finale that is interesting enough. There is a constant thread of spice. . It is a bit dry and stretched as it ends, drops down a gear. From late 2015. 14.5°. 2023-25 Nov 2013
