2018 ()

dark red; the bouquet gives a strong aroma of soaked black cherries or griottes, has sunny padding. The palate is also succulent, a gourmand affair with bouncy content, an open verve in its delivery. It finishes roundly, with fine tannins in tow. It has a lip smacking aftertaste, is easy to like and drink, the fruit open and ready. Bottled already. 14°. From 2021. 2036-38 Nov 2019

matt-toned dark red robe. The bouquet is reticent, presents a wall of blackberry paste, black olives, almost black truffles, an earthiness present. The palate is firm, sealed, its blackberry flavour just starting out. The tannins fit in, are firm, as is the finish. This doesn’t carry nuance in its delivery, is rather dour, and needs decanting, also leaving until mid-2020. It is bottled already. 13°. 100% Syrah. 2031-33 Dec 2018

(casks) dark red. Cassis or blackcurrant de Dijon, the crème de cassis, comes bounding out of the glass; it has inner intensity, is prolonged. After the curvy, exuberant nature of the bouquet, the palate runs with streamlined black fruits, nicely ripe tannins that have a good tang, and that help to life the final stages. It’s full of fruit that will entertain, and the finish is rounded. From spring 2019. 2030-33 Nov 2017

2015 ()

(casks) shiny, deep robe. The nose gives an air of blackberry lozenges, soaked fruits, with a tender, floral top note, a hint of smoky darkness. It is well rounded, well filled. The palate bears liberal juice, a fresh wave of red berries that keeps going well. The finish brings in some oak, neat tannins with a fine grain. This will give a steady quality glass of 2015 Côte-Rôtie, without delivering the flair of the leaders. From spring 2018. 2031-33 Oct 2016

(casks) dark robe. The nose is breezy, still not defined, has a note of chocolate and black raisin, grilled bacon, oak. The palate is tense on the attack, gains some fat before the finish, ends quietly. Oak is evident, a bit on the limit. This is slightly on the stretch; time will bring some expansion. 12.5°. 10,000 b. €33. From 2018. 2026-28  Oct 2015

(casks) rather dark. Chocolate, smoky, black raisin air – a young and unformed bouquet, a tiny bit stalky, while there is a red meat, muscular side. Possible northern zone influence. The palate has a steely side to it, definite spine, and a fresh sign-off. Traditional Côte-Rôtie; the flavour resembles red berry jam, the definition not yet accurate. No hurry for this. At first there are rather dry notes on the finish, but it eases after considerable air. From 2014. 208-30. Release Jan 2012. Nov 2011

(casks) thorough, dark red. Very primary, post-fermentation air, with lees present, baked apple. Prune and blackberry lie at the heart of the nose. Toffee-black fruits flavour for now – needs two years to fuse. The fruit is correct, not arresting – it is middle of the road in that there isn't a lot of local definition, focus. It widens at the end. Decant this in its early years. 2023-25 Nov 2010
