60-70% Grenache, 25% Syrah, 5-10% Mourvèdre, 0-5% Cinsault, 0-5% Carignan, purchased wine from 8 suppliers based on Roquemaure, compacted sand, safre soils, stony plateau, destemmed, crushed, pre-fermentation 4 day cool maceration at 12°C, 25 day vinification at 27-28°C for Grenache, 35 days for other varieties, two part vat empting/refillings, soft pumping overs, cap punchings, aged 5-40 year large 60-80 hl barrels, 12 year large 100 hl tronconic oak vat, concrete vat 6-12 months, filtered, 30-150,000 b

2016 ()

dark red, with purple in the colour. The bouquet has a brewed black berry, leather aroma, prune fruit intensity in it; it doesn’t really unfurl. There’s baking here, jammy dodger biscuits. The palate has a savoury nature, cooked plum fruits the mainstay; it has inner vigour, and delivers a spice-black pepper burst on the finish. It’s perfectly acceptable, is an upright shape of Lirac, the content backing off before the close. Overall, it’s a bit dour, dogged, doesn’t convey joy. Suited to stews, and decanting. 14.5°. 2026-27 Oct 2018

2014 ()

mottled red robe. Cassis bud and blackberry lozenge/liqueur feature on the nose, which implies an easy sweetness and some perfume, a pumice stone note as well. The palate gives peppery, rocky moments in with its red stone fruits, moves with a fluid, sure hand. The finish is scented, finely juiced. This is going well now, has an understated virtue. 13.5°. 30,000 b. €7.50. To 2018. Feb 2016

2012 ()

sound red; there is the warm murmur of the south across the nose – it glows on red fruits, is clean-cut and round, in a primary state now, shows a tiny trim of herbs. The palate is round, curvy, provides a little sweet, simple pleasure here, no effort required. It gains weight as it goes, declares its power from within, holds front of the mouth acidity. A bit of a construct, all in the cellar. The finish could extend further, and an extra winter may help that. Bottled early Aug 2013. 15° which is high for the content. 150,000 b. To 2018  Oct 2013
