2018

(casks) dark robe; the bouquet has an oily abundance, ripe, “high” fruits and plumpness setting the tone. There is nothing subtle. The palate delivers a copious wave of dark berry fruits, loganberry and mulberry, with prominent, thick tannins in behind. It carries the sun of the vintage, is a thorough, grounded Crozes, not that fresh. From 2021. 2027-28 Nov 2019

2017

dark red colour; the bouquet is shapely, offers a suggestion of raspberry fruit with a note of rose perfume. There’s more to come in an elegant setting. The palate bears enjoyable red fruit with slinky tannins well onside, is tasty, well controlled, quietly purposeful. It ends with a curve of pleasure. This drinks well now. 13.5°. 2026-27 Dec 2018

2016

(casks) dark colour. The nose has a crunchy, nutshells aroma with a small slit of red berry fruit within. It’s not truly open and together, but its width suggests it can make it. The palate starts on oak and its thickness, holds black berry fruit with a smoky tone from the oak. This needs time to assemble, and to convince as a whole. From late-2018. 2022-23 Nov 2017

dark robe. The nose is ample but still reserved, and will be impressive, led by black berry fruits. The palate has a rich centre, with fleshy content, suave tannins all around it. This is a generous, potentially open Crozes that will accompany well a rib of beef, for example. There is a little note of pepper in its cool late fruit. From mid-2017. 2022-23 Oct 2016

(barrel) dark robe. The bouquet gives a restrained, mild air of black berry, a nugget of cassis fruit, a splash of licorice. The palate flies with slightly clipped wings, goes directly. Time may bring extra flesh. The bare frame is there: it needs to fill it further. The fruit is pretty fine, and the length is OK. 13°. 20,000 b. €12. From mid-2017. 2021-22  Oct 2015
