2018 ()

(casks) dark, inky robe; the nose is broad, fuelled with soaked black fruits, prune, a note of beef stock depth. It’s a firm start, with concentration in it, reminds me of Mourvèdre! The palate is robust immediately, packs in its content, has firm tannins clamping it. This requires time to ease back and be more friendly for the drinker. It releases just a cautious black juice towards the finish, before the stony, gruff finale. €15. From 2022, decant it. 2031-33 Nov 2019


(casks/barrel) dark, shiny red robe. The nose expresses raspberry coulis fruit, with a cool thread, has a slightly damp tea leaves, vegetal backdrop. The palate gives showy red fruiting, supple tannins, is out and about already, drinks with a note of rocky grip. It’s well suited to grills. The fruit persists with some freedom into its finish. It is just a bit limited. 2028-29 Dec 2018

2016 ()

dark red robe. The bouquet has a mixed air of treacle, smoke, cooked black fruits, licorice. It’s lithe in nature. The palate is taut, rather stretched, its acidity not fully integrated. There is a fresh line through it, with a note of mint-menthol on the finish. It’s loose and rather angular for now, so leave until spring 2019. 12.5°. 2023-24 Nov 2017


(casks/large barrel) very dark, full robe. The nose is bulky, grilled, has an aroma of dates, thick blackberry jam, a southern origin. It has hardly a chink in its fabric for nowThe palate is also bold and fully charged with black berry fruit and a bonny note of perfume, violets, over it. Its juice runs hither and thither in concentrated fashion. Decanting a definite aid for this chunky, filling wine. The aftertaste is oaked. From mid-2019: it needs time to unlock and reminds me of a 2009, that solar year. 12.5°. 20,000 b. 2028-30 Oct 2016
