2018 ()

(large barrel/casks) dark robe; the bouquet is forming itself, for now is sturdy, dark, carries cooked plum fruit, spiced notes. The palate bears soaked, sweet-noted berry fruits, is scaled, emphatic, the finish insistent, butty, deep, the tannins ripe. It’s a large, thorough Gigondas, which requires time to loosen and define itself further. It plays the ripe card, the mass card, over the fresh, purity card. Decanting essential. 85% Gren, 15% Syr. €18 at cellars. From 2023. 2038-40 Feb 2020

2017 ()

(large barrel/casks) dark red colour. Blackberry with elderberry come forward on the nose, a sense of degree, spirit inside the mulled fruits. The palate achieves some initial coolness in its blue fruit, is vigorous, the tannins dark on the second half. This has the strength of the hot year inside its bones. It’s full, prolonged, a little pushy on the late stages. 85% Gren, 15% Syr. From spring 2021. 2039-40 Oct 2018

2016

(barrel/casks) shiny, full red. The nose has a little inner power, expresses black cherries with a murmur of herbes de Provence. The palate is based around Grenache plum fruits with a floral, rose note towards the compact, smooth finish. This is well mannered Gigondas, nothing out of place along its sleek route; the finish extends securely. 85% Gren, 15% Syr. From 2020. 2030-33 Oct 2017

2015

(barrel/casks, bottling March 2017) has a dark plum colour. The nose has a simple roundness of crushed red stone fruits, plums. There is a free touch of sweetness. The palate links to the nose, with plum fruit that is spiced. It builds extra depth from its tannins, and develops a fresh energy as it closes. There is a little toffee-oak on the second half. The juice runs pretty broadly, is compressed due to its youth for now.  Correct, but not inspiring. 14°. 30,000 b. 60% Gren, 25% Syr, 15% Mourv. €17. From late 2018. 2029-31 Feb 2017
