70% Grenache, 30% Syrah from clay-limestone soils, fermented separately, destemmed, 3-4 week vinification at 25°C-32°C, pumping overs, cap punching, concrete vat raised 10-12 months, unfined, filtered, 12,000 b


full red; grilled, black cherry liqueur air with an overtly spiced top note, ground black pepper, lines of licorice. Has a slightly lactic, honeyed note. The palate delivers bright dark fruit, comes with dash, and a pine-tar infill, the tar strong on the aftertaste. A pretty big construct here. Its tarry intensity is matched by a helpful amount of freshness, so that turns out to be noticeable but not oppressive. From autumn 2014. 14.5°. €4.35 ex cellars. 2018-19  Oct 2013


2 bottles tasted. 1st bottle: reduction, spirity, leesy. Bottle 2: dark red. Also reduction, pong, spirity, uncharming. The palate is cooked up, the fruit lacks fat, offers no moment of comfort. It ends fruit-free, is overcooked, charmless. Might be more round 2014. Hard to see much future here. Decant it. 14.5°. 2018. €19.25. Oct 2012
