2016 ()

(casks) dark robe. The bouquet has an inner oiliness, presents cassis and blackberry fruit with some oak varnish alongside, licorice also. It’s sturdy, but not overdone. The palate comes forward on thickly juiced, smoky black fruits, the vintage depth in the fruit. The aftertaste rests on the oak for now, but also involves a cooked plums flavour direct from the Grenache. It holds sound content. The oaking masks its local imprint for now, so leave until 2023. 2034-36 Oct 2017

2009 ()

(casks) bright, full dark robe. Oily, black cherry, oaked nose that holds up strongly. The palate is also overtly oaked, its juice abundant and prolonged. The finish is tarry, but can be absorbed from 2014-15. High octane, USA critic style wine in a ridiculously heavy bottle. There is a high degree here, INXS as they may say in some parts. 2022-24 Oct 2010
