2018

red robe, clear, bright. Has a peppery, red fruited aroma, strawberry present. The palate gives fibre in the texture, grainy red fruit content, with nerve late on, a little crunch on the finish. It’s a trifle raw, un-joined up. There are pockets of red fruit here and there. It was raised for only six months because the frost meant there was no 2017 vintage. From spring 2020. To 2024 Dec 2019

2015 ()

attractive dark red-purple hinted robe, just at the end of its first lustre. Smoked bacon, good black fruit intensity on the nose, a hint of violets, florality, a powdered trail. There are fruit gum sweets notes, reduction, can be decanted. This is well-fruited, has the mulberry darkness of red berries, with cool moments late on, good verve. This is expressive, live, superior Vin de Pays, with good freshness and spine through it. Air softens and broadens the finish, and the aftertaste is on blueberry, dark fruit. It’s notably tasty, holds a good bundle of central fruit. For the grade, it has character. 13.5°. 2023-24 Sept 2018

2014

(used 228-litre oak cask) bright red. Has an aroma of softly simmered black cherries – this is an open arms bouquet. Cassis flavour is prominent here, with mild tannins. This is a good zinc drink that offers easy and joli drinking, is a w.o.w. wine. The finish is round. To 2018  Oct 2015

2013 ()

bright red; spice, cloves aroma, a burst of raspberry and licorice. The palate gives crisp red fruit with running tannins, spice, pepper. This is fresh wine, dentelle and lifted. It isn’t that deep so good with charcuterie. It is spare towards the finish. It has integrity, and doesn’t wear make-up. 12.5°. To 2018  Oct 2015

2011

bright three-quarter depth robe; tobacco, damp earth, black fruits, prune airs. Low-key succulence, black pastille flavour. This has reduction. There is a slight vegetal note on the nose, and it ends dry. “I am not happy with this,” A.Perret. Retaste.  Oct 2012

2010 ()

bright red; smoky, lardon aromas – an up and out black berry fruit, a real rocker that offers fun, fun. There is a dash of black cherry fruit on the palate with tar-leather-spice running through it. This is ready to go. It doesn't have great depth, but can gain after six months in bottle – was bottled one month ago. Serve this chilled - it offers exuberant Syrah, has lots of appeal. The finish brings forward licorice, mulberry and raspberry fruit. Can be drunk solo. “I had to sort crop this year, since it was degrading by the end of the ripening – so I am at 40 hl/ha this year,” A.Perret. To 2015 May 2012

2007

red robe; perfumato nose – rose, incense, musky aroma, very floral. The palate fruit has a direct outer, but well-formed inner red fruit that is baked, secure. It ends on pebbly tannins. A Get on and Go wine – drink from spring 2009. Bottled one week. €5 – good for the money. The fruit is tasty, and it ends on a some lip smack, red berry in the flavour. Tightens and grips at the end. To 2012. Dec 2008
