dark robe; the bouquet parades a dense, floral-toned aroma of black berry fruits, dabs of black coffee, Zan licorice. The palate sets off well, gives a typical Rôtie display of violets on the attack, mineral, lead pencil tuning towards the finish. It holds a rolling, savoury black-fruited content, picks up darkness in the tannins as it finishes. The closing rockiness, cut serves it well. This is genuine, unforced, really tasty Rôtie, a good do. 13.5°. From 2022. 2036-38 Feb 2020

red robe. There’s a low level of violet in with blackberry fruit on the nose, a touch of black pepper; it has crackle. The palate comes in a grippy style, cut in it, a rocky nature with moments of tender, floral, red fruit gras here and there. It’s very clear Côte-Rôtie, spare for now. It can expand a little. The close is on mineral. It needs leaving another two years – so from 2021. 13.5°. 2032-34 Dec 2018
