2018 ()

dark robe; the bouquet gives an inviting air of black cherry, with a note of licorice, violets. It’s a bright, up front opening. The palate links well with the nose, sets off with crisp black fruit, a discreet underlying sweetness. It delivers with freedom, is direct. There’s a build up of tarry tannin on an assertive close – this has just been bottled, so allow another six months for a more absorbed finish. It will be best drunk when young. 14°. 2026-27 Feb 2020


quite a dark red; the nose leads on a mild air of blackberry coulis, light spice, isn’t very deep. The palate is also light, pared back even, holds fibrillating fruit that resembles raspberry, mulberry, is smoky. It ends tight – clack! The tannins have nerve. (casks) fullish red robe; oily, soaked cherries, soaked aroma, varnish, sweet spice, tea present, and tar-rubber airs. The palate fruit has a waxen, acetate overlay – this has black fruit with urban cut about it . . there is licorice on the aftertaste. Close to ready, a wine showing most of its features now. It drinks soundly, with some late weight, its tannins are ripe. From mid-2011. 2016-17 Nov 2010
