quite a dark red; there is a neat aroma of blackberry on the nose, licorice, a bit of tar, has a rather Southern style. The palate holds prune fruit, ripe tones, the image of thick grape skins, density on the second half, oak towards the finish. The parts aren’t properly joined up, the finish crunched. It’s only been in bottle for a week, so gets a margin. One cannot claim its balance is on the mark, though, with its 14° on the label and the stewed notes not vrai Cornas messages. €35. (casks) shiny, dark red robe. The nose is compact, slightly reduced, has a shapely aroma of black berry fruit without being obvious. The fruit is polished, lissom in style. The palate gives a silky run of gras that contains very pure fruit, with pliant tannins that deftly increase its depth as it travels. This is svelte Cornas, with finesse and engaging freshness, well done. It’s a Burgundian take. From 2019. 2030-31 Oct 2016
