The Wines

Syrah, 50% destemmed, 3 week vinification, pumping overs, a few cap punchings, aged 228-litre oak casks 15 months, unfined, unfiltered, first wine 2013

2016 ()

magnum: dark red. Sampo soil, reductive air on the nose, stewed red fruits, a bouquet that isn’t yet sorted out. It presents a modern, rather flashy style of Cornas. The palate offers red fruits, mulberry and raspberry, keen tannins in tow. It’s not fully knit together, but has the scope to come together, is a mineral wine with cut, and the close is fresh, rocky. 13°./ From 2021. 2036-38 Dec 2018

2015 ()

(casks) bold, dark robe. This has an intense bouquet, a flourishing aroma of black cherry with violet nuances, red meat; it combines strength and fine-ness, licorice. This is well bundled together, holds solid gras at its centre. There are steely tannins here, with a cascade of blueberry towards the finish, which is a bit rugged. The tannins could be finer. From late 2018. 2029-32 Nov 2016 GB £268 12 b in bond H2Vin www.h2vin.co.uk info@h2vin.co.uk +44(0)203 478 7376

2013

black robe, a purple top. Has a juicy cassis and black cherry aroma to greet you, mulberry also. It is open and fluid, has a soft floral hum behind that. The palate presents easy, tasty fruit with a little pick-up of tannin and grip as it goes, some fine tannin. Modern, juicy Cornas, for earlier than usual drinking. Correct Cornas, with some fun in the glass. From spring 2016. €29.75 export. 2023-25  Jan 2015
