clear yellow robe; the nose has a peach, peach stone and pear aroma that carries coolness. There’s oak grilling, cigarette ash in behind. The palate starts on a savoury note, holds ripe matter, squeezy richness, takes on oak and thickness towards the finish. The flavour centres on dried fruits, nutty touches. It’s a little ponderous, must be served well chilled. I’d like more freshness, finesse, bounce, in it. 14°. 1,200 b. €45. 2023-24 Nov 2019

2016 ()

fine yellow robe. Has a graceful, reserved bouquet, wisps of soft flowers and pear – a shapely do it is. The palate rolls with gentle curves, good central gras richness that is neat and focused in the one place. It finishes with further softness, is fresh and refined, is a very good 2016 Condrieu. The length is constant, and the aftertaste is nutty, grainy. 14°. 2024-25 Feb 2018

yellow colour; the nose shows some reduction, so decanting is advised. There is a latent air of cooked pear, a hint of spice. The palate dances along well, with a freshness induced by carbonic gas use. It has a mixed fruits flavour, pear and plum, and delivers a fresh Condrieu for the immediate. There is body in behind, so it can live a while longer. The aftertaste is tangy, on peach stone. 14°. 400 b. 2020-21 Oct 2016

flinty, cream-yellow robe. Reserved, almost dumb nose, but the interior is classy, shows the shine of stylish pear, ripe white fruits. Nothing much has happened yet, but it whispers mineral, pear skin – has a poised air. The palate is in keeping with the nose, the texture silken, very caressing. The flavour resembles pear and cooked apple, with good length, everything in place. A serious wine of noble, central terroir (tasted blind). It holds attractive gras, and is in the vein of the Vernon. The balance is good. Decant this. From mid-late 2012. Deserves fine cuisine. 2019-20 Nov 2011
