2017 ()

(casks) dark red; restrained, reserved nose on elderberry, a light skim of blueberry, mineral touches. The palate manages a fine line of spinal freshness, is flanked by good style gras richness, is neatly rounded. The tannins bring extra darkness on the close, smoke-tobacco n the exit. This holds potential. 12.5°. From 2020. 2031-33 Nov 2018

2011 ()

quite a dark red, gradual evolution. This shows the cosy roundness of the vintage on the bouquet, has a bonny, plump heart, manifests black berry and raspberry fruit with some freedom and elegance, notes of licorice. The palate rustles up instant, rather sweet red berry with oaking after half way. A cellar-led wine, workmanlike Saint-Joseph. Oak lovers can drink this now. It lacks a truly secure core, is tame. There is a hint of hang dog, “high” notes, earthiness on the aftertaste. Best in 2015. 12.5°. 45,000 b. To 2019  Nov 2013

2010 ()

quite a dark red; this has a grilled air, backed by an air of soaked red cherries, griottes with iris floral notes. There is a meaty angle as well, a sort of junior beef cake. The palate shows darting, mobile black berry fruit on the debut, spreads with freedom across the palate, has life in its tannins, pushes on through in an obvious way. Has an attacking style, is sound, and drink now. 13°. 2018.  Sept 2012

2006

(casks) full robe; pretty aroma that reflects blackcurrant, raspberry – has dance in it, suggests a good wine is to follow – it is promising, and sleekly presented. There is bright early fruit on the palate – clear blackberry with mid-weight influence in it. It is crisp late on, and its oak is well handled, lending a late vanilla pod flavour. Good length – this is a polished, rather sophisticated Saint-Jo. 2017-18 Dec 2007

(casks) earthy, earthy, ripe crop nose; taut, stretched fruit on palate - leaves a dry impact. Wait till bottled, and expect better.

2000 ()

tar/pepper black fruit aroma; cool fruit, tasty, drink up wine. Vigorous. 2009-10
