Syrah (mid-1980s) from galet stone alluvial, red clay soils, hand harvested, part destemmed, crushed, 3-week open concrete vat vinification, daily pumping overs, cap punchings, malo in oak, aged 30-40% new, 60-70% 1-2 year 225-litre oak casks 18 months, egg white fined, filtered, caled Les Deux Terrasses until 2015, when became Lieu-dit Les Chassis, "dtink with lamb, beef, duck, pork, roasted pig cheeks, stewed lamb in honey, garlic & rosemary", 5,300 b

2015 ()

(casks) deep robe, with shine. The bouquet is raw, full, has a Bovril, beef stock nature, with cooked apple, a near note of varnish. The palate is closed-in, with a layer of cooked plums, and tannins that are still on the outside. It’s disjointed as it stands now. There is a line of freshness through it, and it builds a little in content. From 2018. 2023-25 Oct 2016

2014

(casks) dark robe. The nose has a roast beef, meaty angle, grilled airs mingling with a nice stream of simmered black fruits and some licorice. The palate sets off at pace, delivers scented, streamlined black cherry fruit, a note of oak and varnish late on. Modern, clear Crozes, good with grills when young. There is plenty of juice on the aftertaste. It goes long and ends ful of running. From late 2016. 2021-22 Oct 2015 

2013 ()

(casks) very dark robe. There is a solid strength in the nose, which is overtly oaked, so it gives a charry air. The black fruit is compact. The palate fruit is juicy and flows well; for now, oak is the main impact, with its note of varnish. A modern, swish Crozes. It has a pretty good length, is a wine for getting into from 2017. It seems to come from mature vines judging by the quality of the fruit. 13°. 5,300 b. 2022-23  Jan 2015

2012 ()

(casks) dark colour; salty touch, Marmite yeast air, a clear tang of black cherry – this presents a big aggregation of small, ripe black berries, with a style of liqueur about it, also varnish. The palate fruit lasts until half way, after some rather acetate notes on the attack, before a tannin stricture and dumbing down comes along as it ends. Very much on its oak and raising now, needs liberating. It has a racy angle and can go places. From mid-2015. 2023-24  Nov 2013
