67% from rented vineyards at Glun (La Vinsonne, 1989 Syrah & younger) and 33% on Les Côtes southern zone of Mauves (1999 & younger Syrah Syrah, granite-clay soils), 80-90% destemmed, 3-4 week fermentation, a few pumping overs, mainly cap punchings, aged 2-5 year 228-litre oak casks 15-17 months, unfined, filtered, first wine 2005 & until 2015 called Les Vinsonnes, organic, biodynamic wine, 4-4,500-6,260 b

2018 ()

full red robe; the bouquet is broad, sweet, oaked, furnished with aromatic, perfumed, mulled red fruits, gives an open abundance. The palate bears oak-varnish around its smooth content, has life in its late stages, but for now finishes indistinctly, indicating the need for further raising. The tannins are layered, ripe, and there is a little revival of fruit on the close. It’s a steady do, a country wine. 13°. 6,260 b. €26. From 2022, decant it. 2030-32 Nov 2019

2017 ()

(casks) thorough, dark red robe, black at its centre. The bouquet has a swell oiliness, a ripe plum fruit aroma, is southern in feel. The palate offers rose, pot pourri scenting in its lissom red fruit content, drinks kindly, has good shape to provide pleasure. The finish is rounded, carries flexible tannins inside. There’s just a sense of a slightly exerted wine, a bit pumped up, flashy. It will be good with lamb tajine, all lamb dishes, also young goat. It’s on the go, even though not yet in bottle. 13°. 2016 ()

(casks) dark red robe. The nose has a kindly style, a curve of black berry fruits with a low-key sweetness, and licorice. The palate is less together, bears black fruits with dark tannins, but fusion will be complete, and this will drink well, offering well-struck, up front fruit. There is a note of oak on the aftertaste, so leave until 2019. 13°. 6,250 b. 2023-24 Nov 2017


(casks) dark robe, with spots of spritz. The nose gives an air of coated, sturdy, touch of volatile present, sweet cassis fruit. The palate holds a savoury, supple content. It’s a little tight and low-key, as the fruit backs off, before the finish. It’s some way from being the finished article judging on this, perhaps not great, sample. 13°. 5,000 b. 2014 ()

(casks) dark robe. The bouquet is grilled, has an air of pork scratchings, loose and easy black berry fruit. The palate delivers crisp black fruit, blueberry fruit, with fresh tannins. This captures the year’s breezes well. The fruit travels a long way, has peppery moments. The finish is still on the grainy side. 13.5°. 4,100 b. €14.50 export. From spring 2017. 2022-23  Oct 2015


quite a dark red. Has a supple blackberry air, a rose hip fragrance above it. This is still compact on the palate, while the finish is crunchy, and very vintage marked. The fruit comes in low register. The nose is making more progress than the palate. The red fruit is a bit on the wire. There is a lot of late crunch – from tannins and acidity. It is very straight down the line wine. From spring 2017. Bottled March 2015. 2021-22 Oct 2015

2010 ()

(casks) dark colour; meaty, lusty red stone fruits aroma, a touch of a “high” note in this. The palate has an oily, ripe fruit by design start to it. The texture shows southern St Jo zone softness. Black fruits, a black fruit coulis dominates, with tar-licorice in a snap of grip at the end. The aftertaste shows chocolate, tannic grain, some oak, tar. From late 2012. 2018-19 Nov 2011

2009 ()

dark robe, legs. Mulled, soaked black fruits air, violet, a boudoir plushness here – the air of soaked fruit runs across the glass. Scented, violet floral start to the palate – fleshy black fruit with a a pick-up of dark tannin and licorice. It ends on the floral black fruit with a squeezy touch there. Shows tannins late on. (casks) pale purple; mix of black cherry, light liqueur, grilled airs on nose, with biscuit, baked bread notes. Tight, nuggety black fruit on the palate, a flavour of prune that leads to a dried, oak-influenced ending. Raw at the moment. Can emerge OK, eg from mid-2011. Its extraction hovers on the excess, especially given the year. Is a grilled wine that may dry as it ages. To 2015. Dec 2009

2007 ()

largely full robe; smoky, rounded, full black cherry-nutty aroma – it is clear-cut, and needs leaving for 12-15 months to let its oak subside. The oak and tannin on the palate are prominent, ahead of its violet-scented black fruits. OK wine, but it lacks really comfortable appeal and charm. From mid-2010. 2015-16 March 2009


red robe; red berry, high tone, smoky aroma. The palate has a pebbly start, with the fruit on its oak – it needs to emerge from that. The length is OK. Traditional style wine. From mid-late 2009. 2014-15. Also expensive at €20 here in Cornas. 3,000 b this year, 4-4,500 b in 2007 Previously Dec 2007 **(*) quite bright dark red; soft and discreet, typical red berry nose. The palate red fruit has some life in it, the length is fair. A workmanlike, correct wine that does not set the world on fire. Ready now, given its oaking, which may move forward as it ages. 2010. 2005 ()

dark robe; brewed, rather down home nose with soaked black fruits and some violet. Elegant black fruit on the palate, is streamlined. Black berry aftertaste. Good cohesion between the elements, this has a pretty rich core. A little late mineral brings focus. From 2009. 2014-16 Nov 2006
