The Wines

Clairette blanche (2009-10) from very limestone, plus clay soils at Sousset-les-Pins in Bouches du Rhône (13), 1 ha and growing, from 2019 two casks of Clairette rose (2015) also included, blanche & rose vinified apart, direct whole bunch press, decanted at 13°C, fermented 4-6 year 228-litre oak casks, raised 9 months, malo blocked, first wine 2012, up from 1,200 b to 3,000 b

pale yellow; discreet, refined air of aniseed, roast nuts alongside, a note of white peach. The attack springs out well, has a dried fruits, wax flavour with good, level persistence, takes on grip in a rather firm, rather rich finish. Good tasty white fruits, peach, feature on the palate. This is good, with gunflint notes towards finish. 14°. 3,000 b. Bottled May 2019. 2025-26 Dec 2019

2015 ()

pale yellow, flinty colour. The nose has a candy opening, is tight, with aniseed of Marseille, so local touches, and cooked lemon. The bouquet has good heart, is stylish. The palate is also tight, but there’s plenty here. It has an agile freshness, holds clear fruit, with white flowers to add charm. It extends into mild gras richness on the finish. This is beau. 13°. Bottled two days ago. 2023-25 Oct 2016

2014 ()

clear, pale yellow. The nose has a lime fruit, candy, soaked pear aroma, aniseed notably. The palate gives sunny fruit, a bonny roundness, comes in a round ball of pear-apricot with late grip that is nicely done. This is stylish, holds good freshness and precision. The 2015 has more muscle. 13°. 2022-23 Oct 2016 Previously Oct 2015 ***(*) yellow robe. Has a pretty typical Clairette nose, an aroma of soft white fruits compote, pear. The palate has an attractive creamy nature, with pockets of freshness and a suave run until it grips in a good, firm close, marked by a little floral note. I always really like this wine. It has character and a real good, assured presence in the glass. “Drink with provençal dishes, soupe au pistou, for example” Laure Colombo. 13°. Harvested 18 October – four weeks later than 2013 and 2015. 2022-24 Oct 2015

shiny yellow robe, legs visible. Verbena, nicely oily air – this bouquet has presence. The palate gives light pine notes, aniseed, carries attractive white fruit with a ginger, tangy touch. Stylish wine that is a good example of Clairette. The gras richness is superior to what one would normally find in a wine of such young vines. Has a salty, iodine finish. Good for the aperitif, or with hors d’oeuvres. 13°. €17 export. 1,200 b. Bottled May 2014. To 2018  Feb 2015

2012 ()

pale yellow; light aniseed, nectarine and peach airs, lime -  nose of some delicacy. The gras richness here is top for a young vineyard, gives a smooth run of fruit and texture. Gives fennel and pear touches, its length attractive. Very good. 2020-21. 600 b. Nov 2013
