33% each Syrah, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon (early 1980s) from clay-limestone broken stone S-facing soils, av yields 30 hl/ha, destemmed, 2 week vinification of varieties apart at 26-28°C (reduced from 30-32°C since 2010 to have softer tannins), pumping overs only, Syrah, Cabernet aged 2-10 year 225 & 228-litre oak casks, Merlot fibre glass vat 12-18 months, unfined, unfiltered, only made in best vintages 2010, 2008, 2005, 2003, 3-5,000 b


decent depth in the red robe; the nose is nicely forward, makes am immediate impact – a mulled red berry fruit aroma lies ahead of hints of oak, it has a safe depth, and certainly punches above its weight. The palate fruit has a crisp note, with at first an imposed dryness from its oaking. This holds good core gras richness, is well-balanced, attractive, above its modest IGP category. The fruit is bright, and there is a touch of southern climes thanks to a few herbs in the flavour. The length is jolly, and a really solid finale reveals slight oaking. 12.5°. To 2017  July 2013
