The Wines

Syrah, aged 25% new, 75% 2-6 year oak casks 10 months, organic, biodynamic wine

2016

bright red colour. There’s iodine, nice clarity in the raspberry fruit on the nose, which is a bit reticent. The palate has a little oak masking, and I prefer the steel vat Tradition wine. It ends with quiet grip. There is good quality red cherry fruit within. Just about ***. 12.5°. To 2022 Dec 2018

2012

fair dark red robe; the nose is sweet on the outside, carries loganberry and cherry fruit, toffee notes from the oak. The palate offers red, raspberry fruit with oak on stream after half way. The length is sound. The oak could be less, but the sun-filled crop handles it better than in 2016. It’s peppery on the close. 2021-22 Dec 2018

2006 ()

mid+ red robe; has a quiet bouquet – some plum in it. The palate starts with some tar, backed by red fruits – it rolls on quite well. This has more poise than the Tradition. It shows some late tar from its oak. Quite a hearty wine, without pretension. To 2011. Dec 2007
