2018 ()

full red colour, black centre; the bouquet is lively, offers coursing black cherry fruits, coulis of blackberry, a note of sweet ripeness in the fruit, soaked in style. The palate gives an immediate hit of black fruit with a note of licorice, prune attached, a floral-violet sense towards the finish. This is exuberant St Jo, will go down well in the bistrot trade. It just steps back from being plush, retains drinkability, even though the general tenor is sweet. It will be ideal with grills, steak frites etc. 13.5°. 2025-27 Nov 2019

2006

quite a dark robe; there is oak within the black fruit on the nose – which renders it upright. The palate holds fair early black fruit that is quite clear-cut – it has the grain of its St Jean location – that tension from the granite. It needs leaving until April 2009 – its freshness is correct for the terroir. It is rather austere now, although its richness is here in a moderate register now. Tarry aftertaste. Patience best. 2014-15 Jan 2008

2002 ()

marzipan, tight black fruit nose. Texture has sinew, black cherry near finish. Length OK. Some tannic support. 2005 on. 2009-11

2001

cherry/peppered nose, earthy side; upright, more evident tannin than his Crozes, latent wine, sound. 2005 on. 2010-12
