(casks) dark, intense robe, black-tinted. The bouquet has a good, settled centre on blackberry fruits, is closely knit, with the potential to emerge well, really strike out. It has a confident width. The palate moves on a firm trail of berry fruit, good, dark tannins on the scene, adding a couch to the second half. They require a couple of years to meld and infuse. This has dash, quality, is well made, genuine Crozes, good à table with red meats, couscous dishes. From mid-2021. 2032-34 Nov 2019


very dark, shiny robe, mainly black. The bouquet gives a good stream of refined black fruit, a blackberry and raspberry mix, is a good, homely opening. The palate takes up the baton well in offering enjoyable, clear mixed berry fruit, with good glide in its delivery. The tannins are ripe, fit in well, the finish is rounded and clear. This presents a good picture of drinkable, well-fruited, stylish Crozes. There are late notes of oak, which will fuse without problem or delay. It is bottled already. 13.5°. It’s a nose of good depth. There is an attractive amount of concentrated fruit and matter on the palate, with good, tasty tannins. 2016 ()

(vat/casks) mainly dark red colour. The nose is overtly grilled, with a sweet inner of soaked black berries, just a little lift. The palate bears easy, rather graceful black fruits with a small perfumed note towards the finish. It’s simple and straightforward, in the eye of the vintage, offers steady quality, and won’t live long: until 2021-23. 12.5°. Nov 2017


dark robe. The nose has promise, for now rests on oak, nutshells, black cherry fruit coulis a secondary feature. It breathes a close-knit promise. The palate is nice and solid, with wavy black fruit and live tannins adding to its momentum. It has a wholesome make-up, is suited to red meats. There is a hint of reduction. (vat/casks) sturdy dark red robe, black tints. The bouquet is oily, presents a rather lush and layered blackberry fruit, a simple abundance on the go, some meatiness. The palate holds black cherry fruit with some style and ease about it. It tapers a little after its early flourish: hence it is a little flattering. Allow this another winter. 12.5°. €8 export. 2013 ()

full robe. There is a blackberry, hedgerow fruit debut to the nose – a hint of stems, a green pepper angle that makes one wonder about the crop ripeness. The peppery theme runs through the palate, which has moments of freedom in the fruit. It is slightly on its tension, the finish cutting for now. Has a menthol, chalky sign-off. It can fuse, needs patience. From mid 2016. 12.5°. €15 at the cellars. 2023-25  Jan 2015


dark robe; closed-in bouquet that shows licorice and a fine roundness of black berry fruit, waves of that lapping up quietly. The berry fruits have a dark intensity, but are free. The palate holds stylish, convincing fruit that is already pretty much in shape. Slight extra grip comes at the end. A good, neat bundle of roundness with sweet touch late fruit. Drink now with grills etc. A get on and do Crozes. 12.5°. To 2022. Nov 2013


dark robe; mocha, menthol and slight reduction on the nose, which shows a pronounced ripeness, with oak mixed up. Scented fruit leads the palate, with a generous matter present, that gives it flesh. Decanting is OK for this. The fruit continues well. Oak lies on the aftertaste for now. From 2013. 2022-24 May 2012 Previously Feb 2012 ***(*) dark colour; tight and smoky nose, with game notes, animal and reduction, an air of brioche bread in behind – bouquet is not yet orderly. The palate has the grip of black fruit post-bottling at the end of Nov 2011. Clear cut tannins run down the sides, leading to a notably tar-charcoal aftertaste. dark robe, black at its centre – a bright and promising appearance. Crunchy, clean and direct black fruit aroma here, also tar and licorice; it is a little formulaic, arm's length. The palate is brightly fruited – there are good, clean lines here, the fruit zappy and purposeful. It ends on a little oak stiffness. Confidently handled, the growers know the job (tasted blind). It revolves around clean, bright qualities. Can enjoy a fruitful second stage of life as well, say 2014-17. From mid-late 2011, it will have less oak on the finish, where the fruit recedes a bit for now. 2022-25 Nov 2010


mild plum robe; reductive, earthy, brewed aroma with the air of red plum within. The palate presents “rounded” fruit = stewed in nature, lacks crispness, but gets by for now, a short-term drink here. A little late sweetness and length on this. Now to 2012-14. Dec 2009


quite a full robe; grilled outer air, red fruits inner air on the nose – bacon and barbecue smoke – this is virile, if a little cellar enforced. Has a red plum, spiced flavour, smoky bacon and prune in it, too. I am not yet convinced by its balance or depth. Shows dry, oak moments late on. From late 2009: can settle but lacks really natural, full qualities. 2016-18 Dec 2008

2006 ()

black, matt purple robe; has a compact, tight-knit, rather sweet aroma – plum fruit with a little licorice and menthol to pep it up, and some reduction present. The palate holds black, prune style fruit: its richness is assured, and the surround to the fruit well-established. Has ripe tannins, good length and a black pepper aftertaste. Comes in the fashionable style where the fruit is gourmand. Best with food. To 2016-18. Dec 2007

2005 ()

quite a dark, matt tone to the robe; earthy, gummy fruit nose that indicates reduction – decanting required. The red fruits are surrounded by some floral, laurel airs. Plum fruit on the palate also reflects the reduction. This is going to be better when it is starting to mature than when it is young. The length is sound, the core is ample and sustained. The tannins and the oak require it being left until mid-2008. Has to shake off the reduction, the lack of air in it: that is the reservation about it. 2020-22 Nov 2006


bright robe. Nutty, plum jam, brewed and spiced bouquet, even nougat. Full start on palate, rich surrounds of ripe fruit, a prune taste here. Length OK, gets pebbly and shows a ground coffee effect on finish. Fruit is clean at start, flavour is dry towards finish. 2012-15 April 2006


full, quite soaked fruit aroma, with pepper, licorice and a lightly meaty side. Good, wide attack, the fruit sustains well - as usual is quite pushed along, in the house style. Prune, dry-toned finale. Danger that may dry. 2012-14 March 2005 2003 Previously *** dark, mauve colour; bouquet pretty now - oiled black fruit, sunny. Soft black fruit start, easy and full feel. 1999 ()

dark fruit, licorice parts bouquet, good density, quite firm. good fruit flavour that tightens after an open start; ends freshly. Pretty concentrated, from 2003. 2014-16.

1998 ()

blackcurrant, medicine mix on bouquet, a real plunger! Fruit runs all over palate, is really tasty. Some end tannins, will close up and rebound. Good typicity. 2012-15
